- "They're hats for house-elves. I did them over the summer. I'm a really slow knitter without magic but now I'm back at school I should be able to make lots more."
- — Hermione Granger's use of the Knitting Charm[src]
The Knitting Charm[1] (incantation unknown) was a charm used to bewitch knitting needles to perform their task autonomously.[2]
History
During the 1989–1990 school year, this charm was taught by Professor Filius Flitwick to sixth-year students in Charms class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1]
In the summer of 1992, Molly Weasley used this charm on knitting needles at the Burrow to knit clothing (presumably the Christmas presents) whilst she was absent.[2] In September 1995, Hermione Granger used this charm while she was at Hogwarts to knit the clothes she was leaving out for the house-elves.[3]
