A silverfish is a small, wingless insect with a shiny, silver-grey body. It lives in damp areas and feeds on starchy materials like paper and fabrics, often causing damage.[1]
History
In August 1995, a silverfish was found along with a swarm of Doxies in 12 Grimmauld Place by Molly Weasley and other members of the Order of the Phoenix. When Molly's sons, Fred and George, collected the Doxies without their mother's knowledge, the silverfish somehow ended up in the containment used for the pixies as well.[2]
