- "Angelic steel isn't common, and those who have it aren't exactly rushing off to test it against Exorcists. When my daughters and I were cornered in that last Extermination, I tried to buy time for my girls to flee, and well... You don't become an angelic arms dealer without arming yourself first."
- ―Carmilla Carmine, to Vaggie about the Exorcists' weakness
Carmilla Carmine is a demon and one of the many powerful Overlords of Hell. She is a supporting character, and the top weapons dealer in Hell who made her debut in the episode "Scrambled Eggs".
Appearance
Carmilla is a tall demoness with an hourglass build, light grey-magenta skin, and long, thick white hair with black streaks. Her hair is usually kept into a pair of large beehive-like horns by thin, ballerina-like black ribbons, but when she lets her hair loose, it reaches down to her ankles and is slightly messy.
Her mouth features black lips and noticeable fangs inside, and she has a marking colored in a darker shade of her skin tone resembling a mask that envelopes her eyes, which themselves have white irises, red sclera and slit-like pupils. Her arms and hands are colored white from her deltoids down, with her hands being rather large in proportion to her body with black nails. She also has bridged wrists, instead of the alignment of her arms narrowing at the wrists like most people or demons.
Carmilla wears attire similar to a ballerina, which consists of an off-the-shoulder black dress with white buttons and white stripes located down the front and at the rim of the spiked skirt, which includes magenta lining. She also wears black, waist-length stockings covered by white ballerina shoelaces.
Carmilla walks on the tips of her toes in her ballet slippers, which in "Hello Rosie!" are revealed to be made out of angelic steel. She also accessorizes with a set of hooped black earrings, despite appearing to lack ears.
Pilot
In the pilot, Carmilla's appearance is nearly the same, only she keeps her hair down in a looser style, her marking is less detailed, she wears a black bodysuit with a red waistband, and her hands have long fingers and red claws.
Personality
Carmilla appears to be largely professional, though she can lose her temper, especially when Zestial is insulted or her family is in danger. Zestial claims that losing her temper is usually very unlike her, indicating that she is usually calm and level-headed.
She cares about her daughters, willing to cross any line to protect them, even if it means killing an Exorcist while knowing there will be disastrous consequences for it. She even cares about Zestial, willing to protect him too.
She wants to avoid resorting to violence and avoid going to war, but at the same time, she'll do whatever it takes to protect her loved ones. She refuses to help Vaggie join Charlie's war against the Exorcist due to the fallout threatening her daughters' safety, but she does have a sense of pride when she demonstrates to Vaggie the weakness in the exorcist's fighting style as well as motivates Vaggie to "fight for love".
Abilities
- Enhanced kinetic balance - She can stand and walk on the tip of her feet for long periods without faltering.
- Enhanced speed - Carmilla can move at incredible speeds that allow her to easily evade and counter Vaggie's attacks while being too fast for Vaggie to react.
- Enhanced agility - Carmilla is incredibly agile, enabling her to swiftly pass through a squad of Exorcists and score her first angel kill. In addition, she was able to outrun her opponents such as using her kinetic balance to run around the staircases and balcony railings in her home while teaching Vaggie the flaws and importance of her former fellow Exorcists' weakness. She is also flexible to do a complete split against the wall, and in the air.
Skillset
- Intelligence - Carmilla correctly deduced that Vaggie used to be an Exorcist based on her appearance and fighting style with her angelic weapon. She was also capable of finding the weakness of Exorcists and a way to kill them.
- Business intuition - Befitting her keen mind, Carmilla was not only able to understand the properties and capabilities of standard and angelic weapons, but she was able to start and run a successful weapons business, earning her position as the top weapons dealer in Hell.
- Weaponry knowledge - Due to having a business selling weaponry, she appears to have a vast level of knowledge regarding weapons, such as the details of angelic weapons.
- Musical talent - She is capable of singing.
- Bilingualism - Carmilla can fluently speak Spanish and English.
- Ballet combat - She fights with the grace, speed, and agility of a ballerina.
Weaponry
- Angelic ballet shoes - As shown during her spar with Vaggie and her fight against the Exorcists, Carmilla's ballet shoes are made of angelic steel. Carmilla's fighting style mainly revolves around kicking, with the shoes greatly enhancing her offensive strength and allowing her to easily behead an Exorcist.

Trivia
- Her name "Carmilla" means "garden" or "orchard", while "Carmine" is a shade of red and a red pigment.
- Given she has her two daughters, it is unknown what type of demon she is, as officially, Sinners cannot reproduce.[1] If she is a sinner, her daughters may be also sinners from back when they were alive as a family. Otherwise, they could also be adopted.
- Carmilla being a sinner is further hinted in "Hello Rosie!" when the exorcists were after her and her daughters, as the exorcists spare hellborn demons from the extermination.
- Potentially, Carmilla is the only overlord from Hazbin Hotel to be connected to the spin-off series, Helluva Boss, specifically in the episode "The Harvest Moon Festival", with the sniper rifle titled as "Carmine-Crafted". However, it is unknown whether she herself is responsible for creating the weapon.
- She, along with Rosie and Katie Killjoy were referenced as an easter egg in the Helluva Boss pilot, where a drawing of her drawn by Moxxie was on Blitzo's "Boss Goals" board. This drawing also has her with earlier design where she had actual horns instead of hair styled as horns.
Development
- In the pilot episode, Carmilla appears in Vaggie's story having long curled horns coming out of her hair, even though she was shown earlier in the episode without them, which could be either an animation error or a continuity error.
- In the main series, this was changed to her having long hair that is styled to look like a pair of horns.
