Apelinq was one of the two overarching protagonists of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (alongside Airazor). He was the leader of the Maximals before passing down his leadership to his student and son-figure, Optimus Primal. He sacrificed his life to allow Optimus Primal and the others escape with the Transwarp Key, away from the evil Cybertronian god, Unicron.
He was voiced by David Sobolov, whose voiced Brawl in Transformers The Game, Blitzwing in Bumblebee 2018, and Rhinox in the same film.
Overview
Apelinq was a mountain gorilla Maximal who was his planet's great warrior and the previous leader of the Maximals that has been entrusted to guard the Transwarp Key (a most powerful technology to transport in many galaxies).
However, Unicron invaded the Maximals' home planet to search for the Transwarp Key by sending some Scorponoks and Unicron's most powerful herald, Scourge. He was chased by the Scorponoks until Optimus Primal, Airazor, Rhinox and Cheetor came to his aid and save Apelinq. With no other choice, he gives the Transwarp Key and his leadership to Primal and the others to hidden somewhere that Unicron won't find it, when he is willing to sacrifice himself to buy the others some time and confront Scourge to hold him off. Scourge demanded to Apelinq to hand over the Transwarp Key and Unicron will spare his planet. However, Apelinq refused when he will never let Unicron to go off destroying other planets (including his twin brother, Primus). Apelinq was soon killed by Scourge (who eventually steal his insignia). Before passing away, the dying Apelinq declared to Scourge that he is too late and Unicron will be trapped in the Maximals' galaxy forever when Optimus Primal and his fellow Maximals escaped to Earth. According to Airazor, Apelinq's sacrifice will make an oath for the Maximals no matter the cost.
Apelinq's death was soon avenged when Optimus Prime killed Scourge.
Personality

Apelinq is a just and wise leader. He is also suicidal when he intend to sacrifice himself for his fellow Maximals to escape with the Transwarp Key away from Unicron's grasps. He is brave and strong willed when he refused to give Unicron the Transwarp Key due to the Chaos Bringer's twisted attempted to invade other worlds and his twin brother, Primus.
Abilities and Powers
- Superhuman Strength: As a Cybertronian, Apelinq possessed incredible physical strength and acknowledge by Scourge to be his planet's great warrior, able to hole his own against Scourge for a short while before his death.
- Leadership: As the leader of the Maximals before his death, Apelinq was an excellent leader, as he was wise and knew how to handle difficult situations while leading the Maximals, before passing the roll down to Optimus Primal.
- High Intelligence: Apelinq was very intelligent, as he understood that even though it would result in his death, he knew that fighting Scourge would not only buy the rest of the Maximals enough time to escape, but also that the other half of the transwarp key wasn't with them, and that Scourge wouldn't be able to track it down fast enough.
Heroic Acts
- When Unicron arrived at the Maximal's planet, Apelinq running from the Scorponoks who were after the Transwarp Key until Optimus Primal and three other Maximals came to his aid. With no other choice, Apelinq gives Primal and the other Maximals the Transwarp Key and order them to escape as well he passed down his leadership to Optimus Primal. He stays behind and sacrifice his own life to fight off against Scourge to hold him off to give Primal and the others enough time to escape from Unicron with the Transwarp Key, in order to trap Unicron at the Maximal's galaxy forever.
