F*CK YOU, KENNY! (...) I am so, so, SO sorry about Katjaa and Duck. I am. And I know I fucked up, but STOP pushing me around, and STOP wishing I was dead. (...) NO! You know how they died. You've said goodbye. I never got to see my family; my parents, my little sister... Do you get that? Your family is gone but at least you had them to lose. I never made it home. They could be alive or dead or walkers or worse, and I DON'T KNOW! SO GIVE ME A F*CKING BREAK!Ben stands up to Kenny. (Determinant)
Ben Paul is a major character who appeared in the video game, The Walking Dead: Season One. He was a student at Stone Mountain High School and after the outbreak he first survived alongside his teacher David Parker and another student, Travis before joining the Motel Survivors.
He was voiced by Trevor Hoffman.
Personality
Ben is generally a withdrawn and socially awkward person. He is also a lot insecure and cowardly, which leads to several troubles within the group and annoys Kenny. His cowardice is such that he negotiated supplies with the Save-Lots Bandits in exchange for a truce (although that failed) but also abandoned Clementine to the Walkers when the survivors made it to Savannah. Despite his mistakes, Ben wants above all to help and tries several times to redeem himself and make up for his bad deeds, although he is constantly rebuffed by the others and especially Kenny.
History
Ben first appears with Travis when their teacher is stuck in a bear trap and is screaming in pain. They are found by Lee, Kenny and Mark and Lee cuts off Parker's leg and takes him and Ben back to the Traveler Motel while Travis is left behind, devoured by the Walkers. On their way to base camp, Lilly and Larry yell at Lee that they shouldn't bring strangers back and suddenly Parker reanimates as a Prowler and attacks Lee though the professor is killed by Mark with an axe. While the others don't understand how he turned undead, Ben explains that everyone has the virus inside them.
He says that at the start of the epidemic he and his comrades had taken refuge in the high school gymnasium and that a cheerleader committed suicide thinking that it would be impossible to survive. People then found the reanimated girl as Walker and deduced that whether they were harmed by an undead or not, they would turn no matter what. Then, Ben accompanies Lee, Kenny, Doug/Carley to the St. John's dairy farm and then leaves with Doug to warn the other survivors of the existence of the farm. Later in the episode, the survivors learn that the St. Johns are cannibals and are locked in the cellar. However, they manage to escape and find Doug/Carley and Ben outside.
In the next episode, Ben keeps watch on top of the motorhome. Meanwhile, Lilly asks Lee to investigate as she believes a traitor is among the group. That's when the Save-Lots Bandits storm the camp, forcing Lilly to fire on them and chaos erupts in addition to the Walkers invading the premises following the gunfire. On the road, Lilly accuses Ben of being the traitor although the latter denies it and prefers to leave. Lilly draws her gun and fires at him but the bullet hits Doug/Carley's head who pushed Ben away. Then, the group continues driving and discovers an abandoned train inhabited by Charles, a homeless man. Thanks to Lee and Kenny, the train can restart and the survivors board to travel to Savannah. During the trip, Ben confesses to Lee that he was the one who negotiated supplies with the bandits in the hope that they would leave them alone. Afterwards, the survivors meet Omid and Christa who help them clear the way and follow them into the city. Savannah is overrun with Walkers and Ben refuses to help Clementine and instead flees, leading Lee to fight the zombies to save the girl. Later, the group searches for a craft which is stolen by Vernon is his group and Lee is bitten on the arm. Clementine also disappears and the last survivors help Lee find her. While trying to jump into a building in front of the mansion, the balcony slips and Ben falls into an alley where he is impaled by an iron bar. Kenny goes down to get him and shoots him in the head, killing him to end his suffering as Walkers surround them.
