I thought I was a hardcore horror movie fan, but I was living a lie! Tell me, is it wrong for a punk rock chick living in a haunted, malevolent mansion to be touched by the magical friendship of a pony?Carrie in "The Pony."
Carrie Krueger is a supporting character in the Cartoon Network animated series The Amazing World of Gumball. She's a ghost at Elmore Junior High in Miss Simian's class and the girlfriend of Darwin Watterson. She was born to a mortal man named Vladus Lokowitchki and his lover, a female ghost whom he met in a mirror.
She is voiced by Jessica McDonald.
Appearance
She is a translucent ghost with an ovular face, a small torso and arms, and a ghostly tail in place of any legs. Her long fringe always covers one of its eyes, although it is not always the same eye. Her face is simplistic, made up of only two dots and a line for her eyes and mouth, respectively. She wears a skull-shaped bow tie.
From the second season onwards, she looks a little smaller and her eyes are bigger.
Personality
Carrie exhibits straights of stereotypical 'emo' girls such as a shy demeanor and occasionally depressed attitude. She claims to enjoy horror movies and everything to do with the dark and is also horrified by exaggeratedly cute or cheerful displays. She is shown to be highly wise and knowledgeable in the supernatural, often helping others confront paranormal situations. She is also very quite snarky, sarcastic, and deadpan as shown on multiple occasions, being frustrated with the antics of other characters.
However, she often shows a sweeter, more sentimental side, such as when she mistakenly ends up watching a movie about a pony and admits to having found it touching, or in "The Scam," when she was willing to go away with Gargaroth forever to the underworld if it meant saving all her friends. She is also very social, as she is seen repeatedly talking and/or interacting with other characters, and also routinely enjoys going on dates with her boyfriend, Darwin. In general, she is a good-natured and supportive character despite her dark aesthetic.
Abilities
Body Possession
Carrie possesses the power to inhabit and take control of other people's bodies. When she does this, she gains full command over their physical actions and gives them a zombie-like appearance. The person being controlled can still communicate with her and breach through with some level of physical control, as shown when Gumball resists her control in "The Ghost." While possessing someone, the victim's reflection will show Carrie instead of their own body.
Teleportation
Carrie can instantly transport herself between different places. "The Ghouls" reveals she can transport others with her. She can also be called to someone's location if they say her name three or five times, as demonstrated in "The Mirror" and "The Matchmaker."
Telekenesis
Carrie demonstrates powerful telekinetic abilities, shown when she simultaneously controls multiple pieces of classroom furniture and supplies in "The Scam." The same episode also shows her staging mock haunting scenarios by creating tornado-like winds and levitating all of the swimming pool's water at once.
Intangibility
Carrie can choose whether objects pass through her and whether others can see her, as shown throughout various episodes. She frequently remains in an intangible state, allowing people and objects to pass through her during interactions. She can also turn invisible.
Witchcraft
Carrie shows extensive knowledge and skill in magic and the paranormal, including:
- Speaking Latin spells with or without spellbooks, as seen in episodes like "The Scam" and "The Mirror"
- Conducting spiritual ceremonies like exorcisms, shown in "The Flower"
- Creating magical mixtures, such as making love potions for Darwin and Teri in "The Matchmaker" and ghost potions for Gumball and Darwin in "Halloween"
- Opening magical doorways using Latin phrases
- Removing magical curses, as shown in "The Mirror" when she helps Gumball and Darwin free her father's spirit from mirror imprisonment
Underworld Access
Being born to a human mother makes Carrie unique among ghosts. She can move freely between the living and dead realms at will. Unlike other ghosts who must return to the Underworld at midnight on Halloween, she can remain in the living world due to her connection to it.
