Where you hide Princess Tiger Lily?Indian Chief to the Lost Boys
Chief Great Big Little Panther or the Indian Chief is a minor character from the play Peter Pan by Sir James M. Barrie.
History
Peter and Wendy
In this book adaption, he is the father of Tiger Lily and serves a minor role in the play.
Personality
One look at the Chief and one is bound to be intimidated. This can be because he is in a bad mood, or if Tiger Lily is in danger, but deep down he is extremely kind and rather sweet. He often looks stern and has never been seen smiling (aside from a brief moment in which he delivered an oration in sign language). He's also very protective of his tribe and even more protective of his daughter.
Other adoptions
1953 Disney adoption
The Indian Chief later appears in the Indian camp. Like in the play, he is missing his daughter Tiger Lily who was actually kidnapped by Captain Hook and falsely accused the Lost Boys, John and Michael Darling for her kidnapping and prepares to burn them at stake as their punishment. Peter Pan saves Tiger Lily from Captain Hook and reunites her back to her father who apologizes to the Lost Boys, John and Michael for accusing them and set them free. He makes all the Indians do their signature song: "What made the Red Man Red?". His tribe was helped by Peter Pan so they can help him stop Captain Hook. The chief doesn't appear in the sequel for unknown reasons. However, he does appear in the PlayStation game based on the sequel.
Peter Pan and the Pirates
The Indian Chief makes an appearance in the animated series: "Peter Pan and the Pirates". He serves as an ally to Peter and the Lost Boys.
Trivia
- He is considered a stereotypical portrayal of a Native American chief, which explains why he rarely appears in other Disney’s Peter Pan media.
