Jorge-052

Carter may be the boss, but Jorge is a living, breathing death threat. Nobody messes with Jorge.Jorge's description in the Firefight voice selection.

Jorge-052's last words before sacrificing himself to destroy the Long Night of SolaceTell them to make it count.

Jorge-052 was a SPARTAN-II assigned to Noble Team of the United Nations Space Command on Reach during the Human-Covenant War, under the callsign Noble Five, and ranked as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO). He was the only SPARTAN-II assigned to Noble Team as all the other members were SPARTAN-IIIs. He was presumed MIA/KIA after sacrificing himself to take out the Covenant CSO-class supercarrier Long Night of Solace with a makeshift slipspace bomb.

He was voiced by Hakeem Kae-Kazim in the English version of Halo: Reach.

Description

Jorge is a fairly tall, strong, male human with fairly white skin, brown hair, stubble around his mouth, and hazel eyes. He's a SPARTAN-II, the second generation of Spartans.

His SPARTAN-II armor was yellow or more of a yellowish-brown.

Personality

As the heavy weapons member of Noble Team, and having been born and raised on Reach, Jorge takes personal affection to his home planet, treating any hostiles he encounters on Reach with personal hatred and contempt, as he would defend Reach to his last breath if need be to keep it safe from anyone, or anything, that would dare threaten one of the most valuable planets in the United Earth Government and United Nations Space Command.

History

Background

Born on Reach on March 5th, 2511, Jorge was conscripted into the SPARTAN-II Program by Dr. Catherine Halsey in 2517 when he was six. By 2525, he went through an augmentation process to improve his skills in several fields, and was one of the few who survived the procedure.

Being the only member of Noble Team that was a SPARTAN-II, and having been born and raised on Reach, Jorge took a personal affection for his home planet. After joining Noble Team as their heavy weapons user, he proved himself time and again worthy of being part of it, despite the rest of Noble Team being made up of his descendants in SPARTAN-IIIs.

After the Human-Covenant War broke out in 2525 with the destruction of the colony Harvest, the UNSC scrambled to defend their colonies from the Covenant Empire, but by the year 2552, all the Outer Colonies were destroyed, and most of the Inner Colonies had fallen as well. Reach was the second-most important hub world for the UNSC as the Earth was the primary due to being the homeworld of Humanity. Unfortunately, thanks to the Covenant planting a tracking beacon on the UNSC Iroquois as it returned to Reach, they soon located Reach, and now the UNSC knew that if Reach fell to the Covenant, it was only a matter of time before they found Earth and exterminated Humanity.

Halo: Reach

Kat: Commander.
Jorge: So that's our new Number Six...
Emile: Kat, you read his/her file?
Kat: Only the parts that weren't covered in black ink.Noble Six joins Noble Team

On July 24th, Jorge and the rest of Noble Team had gathered to await the arrival of their replacement for Thom-A293, who was killed in an earlier mission that led to Kat-B320 having her right arm amputated and replaced with a prosthetic replacement. Their new Noble Six, SPARTAN-B312, a Lieutenant, soon arrived, and joined them as they set out on their latest assignment from Colonel Urban Holland: The relay station at Visegrád had gone offline, and UNSC Army troops sent to reactivate it have gone MIA. Holland wants the relay back online ASAP as Reach is too valuable a colony to be off the grid and cut off from the rest of the UNSC. Heading there in two Falcons, Jorge asks their commanding officer, Carter-A259, as to why rebel Insurrectionists would want to cut off Reach from the rest of the colonies, but Carter tells him that he can ask them in person if he wants to.

After they arrive and start searching the buildings, they soon locate several civilian farmers who holed up in one building for their own protection.

Emile: Move! On your knees! Now!
Farmer: (in Hungarian) Don't shoot! Don't shoot!
Jorge: They're not rebels, they're farmers. Look at them.
Carter: Ask him what they're doing here.
Jorge: (in Hungarian) What are you doing here?
Farmer: (in Hungarian) We just didn't want to die. Something killed my son.
Jorge: (translating) Hiding, sir. Neighbors were attacked last night. He heard screams, gunfire. It stopped around sunrise. He says something in the fields...killed his son.
Carter: Some-thing?This can't be good news

When Jun-A266 detects more life forms nearby, and the rest of Noble go to check, they find that the Covenant are indeed on Reach. Jorge continues on the ground with Carter and Noble Six while Jun takes Kat and Emile-A239 to Visegrád Relay in one of the Falcons. Jorge, Carter, and Six soon locate Three-Charlie, one of the missing UNSC Army trooper squads and protect them until they can be evacuated, before heading to the relay to back up Kat and Emile on Jun's Falcon. After they arrive, they hold off the Covenant until Kat can close the door and lock them out. Making their way into the control room, they soon find the body of Professor Laszlo Sorvad, and Jorge finds his surviving daughter Sára hiding under some stairs. As he tries to calm her down, Sára warns him that the Covenant are still inside the relay, before a Field Marshall Elite ambushes Jorge and nearly cuts him to ribbons with his Energy Sword, but Jorge avoids his attack and throws himself over Sára to protect her as the Field Marshall's two Zealot Elite bodyguards join him. The Field Marshall escapes, while the two Zealots retreat further into the relay to regroup with their Grunt and Jackal backup. Jorge and Noble Six go after them and soon eliminate all of them, before Six reboots a junction for Kat to get the relay hub back online as best she can from the plasma damage the Covenant caused to the equipment.

After regrouping with the rest of Noble Team, Jorge attempts to talk to Sára, in both English and Hungarian. When he learns that the body is Sára's father, he offers his condolences, but Sára bitterly rejects his apology, and Emile doesn't help matters with his wisecracks before Carter suppresses a potential argument between them. Ordering that Professor Sorvad stays there, but Sára can come with them, Jorge escorts Sára out with the rest of Noble Team while Carter breaks the bad news to Holland that the UNSC's worst fears are realized: The Covenant are on Reach. WINTER CONTINGENCY has been triggered.

After the events at the relay, two days later, on July 26th, Jorge and the rest of Noble Team are sent to protect the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) Sword Base from attack by a Covenant corvette. Jorge remains with the rest of Noble Team to protect the base proper while Kat and Six handle things outside the base with getting the Triple-A gun at Airview Base online and restore communications with the transmitter at Farragut Station. After Kat and Six return to Sword Base and rejoin the rest of Noble Team, they take out the Covenant air forces with destroying the Phantom and Banshees attacking the base up close. Once they are gone, the corvette tries to escape, but a pair of Longswords keep up with it until it is pierced clean through by an orbital MAC round, sending it into the water to sink to the bottom as Jorge and Six look on and Jorge commends Six for their efforts before being told by Carter they are being summoned to speak to Dr. Halsey in her lab downstairs.

Halsey: Jorge, it's been too long.
Jorge: Ma'am.
Halsey: What have you done with my armor?
Jorge: Just some...additions I've made.Halsey doesn't appreciate the mods Jorge made to his SPARTAN-II armor she fitted for him.

Halsey wanted to inquire about the events at the relay hub and the fate of her xeno-archeologist, Professor Sorvad. Jorge explains about the Elites they encountered just after finding Sára, but Halsey is more interested in the Elites. Jorge and Six explain that they were of the Zealot class as their armor configuration and shield strength matched perfectly. Halsey explains that there are those at ONI, like herself, who believe that the Covenant dispatch Zealot Elite search parties to look for artifacts related to their religion. After Kat forks over the data module that Six recovered from Professor Sorvad's body, and Carter exchanges threats with Halsey about sending her to the brig with Kat for various rule violations, Noble Team take their leave, with Jorge acknowledging Halsey one last time before she dismisses him.

Following Six and Jun's reconnaissance of the Covenant during the night and finding a massive invasion force hiding from detection by the UNSC scanners, on August 12th, the UNSC launch a massive assault against the Covenant forces. After Six takes out two Covenant Tyrant AA guns, Jorge arrives on a Falcon to take them near one of the spires that the Covenant seem to be putting a lot of focus on. After the Falcon goes through the electromagnetic shield, causing it to crash when the shield shorts out its electronics, Jorge and Six survive the crash, and make their way to the spire. Once Six gets up to the top and powers down its shields, Jorge and Carter pick Six up in a Falcon and make their escape before the UNSC Grafton destroyed the spire with a MAC round, only to then be destroyed in turn by the massive Covenant CSO-class supercarrier Long Night of Solace, as Jorge watches in horror as the Grafton is destroyed.

No. No! Somebody tell me this ain't happening!Jorge realizing things just went from bad to worse

One day later, on August 13th, Kat comes up with a potentially suicidal plan to take out the Long Night of Solace. With all of the UNSC nuclear weapons unavailable, either from being destroyed with their ships, or being out of the Epsilon Eridani System, Kat recalls an incident with a transport that was on its way to the colony Cygnus when its slipspace drive malfunctioned due to an irresponsible reinstallation of it after maintenance on it, sending 700 lives to oblivion. Despite Carter's belief that Colonel Holland would never approve of such a desperate, even psychotic, move, Holland agrees, and the following day, August 14th, Jorge joins Kat, Carter, and Six with heading to the Sabre launch facility at Farkas Lake to use a Sabre to head into space to carry out Operation UPPERCUT. Six pilots the Sabre while Jorge joins as a passenger for the trip. Once in space, they head to the space station Anchor 9 to meet up with the UNSC Savannah. After helping Anchor 9 hold off attacks from the Covenant with Banshees, Seraphs, and Phantoms, Jorge leaves Six to head over to the Savannah, where the Savannah has had her slipspace drive installed onto a Pelican to be delivered to the Covenant Corvette they will use as a decoy to get the makeshift bomb to the Long Night of Solace. As he makes his way there, Jorge looks down at Reach and asks about Sword Base and everyone there.

Despite being told that there's nothing he can do for Halsey and everyone there and hopes they made it out in time, he boards the Savannah, and with Six and the Sabre escort joining it, they head for the corvette. After taking out its engines and fighter escort in the Seraphs and Banshees, Six and several UNSC troopers land their Sabres in the outer landing bay of the corvette before making their way inside to cut off its communications with the Long Night of Solace before then clearing the way for Jorge to arrive on the corvette with the Pelican carrying the slipspace bomb. While Jorge stays with the Pelican, Six and the troopers make their way to the bridge to take control of the corvette and send it on a refueling run with the supercarrier. Along the way, the Savannah does her best to draw attention to itself from the corvette, but there's so much the Savannah can take before the plasma barrage from the corvette is too much for it, and despite being told to break off and retreat by Colonel Holland, it is too late.

The Savannah is destroyed, and Jorge tells Six there's nothing they can do except finish the mission. After Six sets the corvette on the refueling run for the supercarrier, they return to the hangar to help Jorge fight off the Covenant attempting to stop them. Once the Covenant have all been eliminated, it was now time to arm the bomb and abandon ship. Unfortunately, the way back to the Sabres was heavily damaged by the Savannah during her assault, and the Pelican's own flight capabilities have also been knocked out. Worse, the bomb's remote detonator has been damaged, meaning someone will have to stay behind to set it off manually.

Death

Jorge: Damn it...So it's going to be like that. Well, I've got good news and bad news. This bird took some fire and her thruster gimbal is toast, which means the only way off this slag heap is gravity.
Noble Six: And the good news?
Jorge: That was the good news. Bad news is, the timer's fried. I'm going have to fire it manually.
Noble Six: That's a one-way trip.
Jorge: We all make it sooner or later. Better get going, Six, they're gonna need you down there. Listen, Reach has been good to me. Time's come to return the favor. Don't deny me this... Tell 'em to make it count.Jorge's last conversation and last words before sacrificing himself to destroy the Long Night of Solace

After letting Noble Six out of the hangar and leaving them to fall back towards Reach, once Six is a good distance below the corvette and the supercarrier, Jorge activates the slipspace bomb and the resulting slipspace rupture splits the Long Night of Solace in two, destroying it. Unfortunately, Jorge's sacrifice proved to be in vain, as while the supercarrier was destroyed, the Covenant Fleet of Particular Justice soon slipspaces in over Reach to finish the job. Carter can only accept that Jorge died in the belief he had saved Reach, while they all knew the truth that his heroic sacrifice was all for nothing. Six is also allowed to keep Jorge's dog tags, rather than return them to Carter or Colonel Holland.
