Liu Biao's Army

Liu Biao's Army (in Chinese: 劉表軍) are the heroic faction in the 14th-century Chinese classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the late Luo Guanzhong, and its multiple adaptations. They are the officers under Liu Biao's command during the Later Han Dynasty of China.

History

During the Battle of Xiangyang, Sun Jian was commanded by an army commander Yuan Shu to attack Liu Biao of Jing Province. Liu Biao appointed Huang Zu to command troops against Sun Jian. Huang Zu was defeated by Sun Jian, but the latter was hit and killed by the arrow, effectively ending the battle and supporting Liu Biao's troops.

A few years later, Sun Jian's two older sons, Sun Ce and Sun Quan, did not have trouble when they sought to avenge their father's death. However, they did not cause Liu Biao's demise, because their goal was Liu Biao's general, Huang Zu, not Liu Biao himself. Although Cao Cao (in the North) is gaining strength, Liu Biao's choice neither helps nor hinders his conquest, in part because he encountered the power of Sun Ce's forces in the Battle of Shaxian.

When he fled Yuan Shao's army and placed him in Xinye to provide shelter for Liu Bei. In the end, Liu Biao's forces eventually succumbed to Cao Cao's forces shortly after his death.

Trivia

  • Dynasty Warriors adorns Liu Biao's army in purple. In Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Tactics, his army uses light blue as their main colors.
