Sailor Neptune is one of the main characters of the Sailor Moon franchise. She is one of the Outer Sailor Scouts. Her real identity is Michiru Kaiou (Michelle Kaiou in Cloverway English dub). She first appeared in the 90's adaptation of Sailor Moon S. Her attack is a water-based attack called Deep Submerge, which is like an energy orb. Michiru is also a Violinist.
In the Japanese version, she was voiced by Masako Katsuki in the original series, and by Sayaka Ōhara in Sailor Moon Crystal for the Japanese verison, and the English version by Lauren Landa in the Viz Dub, and Barbara Radecki in the CWi Dub.
Appearance
Michiru Kaiou
Michiru has green hair and blue eyes.
Like several other characters from the original manga who appear in the anime, Michiru keeps the same appearance as her original incarnation, except with her hair shortened from long to medium length.
Her first outfit is a dark red long sleeve sailor uniform with a shades of green ribbon at the center of her uniform and a Mugen Academy emblem in the center of her uniform, green and black checkered skirt and black shoes and white short socks. The color of her uniform is black.
Her summer uniform is similar to Rei's as she wears a dark red vest, with a white short sleeve sailor uniform underneath her vest. She retains her shades of green ribbon, her green and black checkered skirt, socks and shoes from her winter school uniform.
Her primary casual outfit which is opposed to both Usagi and Ami's casual outfit. She wears a long cornflower blue formal jacket with a pale yellow long sleeve V-neck undershirt, dark blue long skirt and brown shoes. Her medium length teal hair is now tied in a high ponytail adorned with a purple ribbon at the center of her head. In Sailor Stars, she wears this outfit as her hair was loose instead of a ponytail.
Sailor Neptune
Sailor Neptune wears golden tiara with a green gem in the middle. She also wears gold earrings. Her sailor fuku has green skirt and blue ribbons on her chest and back. She wears green high-heals with green ribbons up her leg. Her gloves are white with green decoration on the end.
Super Sailor Neptune
She is like the rest of the Senshi as her sailor collar now has a single white stripe in each sides. Her dark teal jewel is now replaced with a gold star at the center, her teal brooch is now a heart shape and her dark blue back bow was now enlarged and lengthened.
Overview
Michelle Kaiou is an elegant and talented violinist and painter with family money of an age with her partner and lover, Amara Tenoh. She is able to transform into Sailor Neptune, Soldier of Ocean and Embrace. She worked alone for some time before finding her partner, Sailor Uranus. Neptune ultimately gave up her own dreams and became fully devoted to her duty as a Sailor, and is willing to make any sacrifice for it. Sailor Neptune's talisman is her Deep Aqua Mirror, which aids her intuition and reveals cloaked evil.
Princess Neptune
During the Silver Millennium, Sailor Neptune was also the Sailor Princess of her home planet and was among those given the duty of protecting the solar system from outside invasion. As Princess Neptune, she wore a sea-green gown with the symbol of Neptune on her forehead. She dwelt in Triton Castle.
Trivia
- Sailor Neptune is one of the only Scout (besides Sailor Mars) who possesses exceptionally strong psychic abilities and the only Outer Scout who has such powers.
- Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus are the only members of the Sailor Scout who's backstory of becoming a Sailor Scout had never been revealed in the manga but shown only in the Anime.
- She, along with the other Outer Scout, possess one of the Talismans needed to awaken Sailor Saturn.
- While Sailor Neptune never fought against the Dead Moon Circus (aside from the later battle against Queen Nehelenia after their defeat) in the 90's anime, both she and Sailor Uranus appeared in a special episode during the SuperS season which had a minor reference to the events of that season which was never released outside of Japan.
