Teefs (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Teefs, also known as 8-9-A-9-5, is a posthumous character in the 2023 superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the third and final installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

He was a Walrus cybernetically enhanced by The High Evolutionary to become a more intelligent life form, becoming a member of Batch 89 alongside Rocket, Teefs, and Lylla.

He was voiced by Asim Chaudhry.

Biography

Genetic Experiment

Teefs was a genetically modified walrus with enhanced intelligence and cybernetics, created by the High Evolutionary in Batch 89. Due to his large body, he used a wheelchair-like device to move. Teefs chose his name for his prominent tusks and welcomed the newcomer, 89P13, into the group.

Death

After Rocket learned of the High Evolutionary's plan to incinerate Batch 89 and take his brain, he freed the group with a makeshift keycard. Teefs watched Lylla die and Rocket attack their master, but he and Floor were fatally shot by guards while trying to escape.

Legacy

The deaths of Teefs and Batch 89 deeply affected Rocket, leaving him broken and cynical. Later, Rocket saw a vision of Teefs, Lylla, and Floor as he approached death, before being revived.
