That's Zazu, my scout. Do not eat him.Sarabi ordering Mufasa and Taka to avoid eating Zazu.
(No BoH intended)
Happy new year, everyone!
I recently rewatched Mufasa: The Lion King, and Sarabi is definitely a great candidate to discuss for my first proposal of the year. This'll be controversial, so I hope this does not cause any issues.
NOTE: This proposal will contain spoilers for Mufasa: The Lion King. |
What's the work?
Mufasa: The Lion King is the prequel to Disney's live-action adaptation of The Lion King, released in 2019. The movie follows Mufasa, who ends up orphaned, on his life with his adoptive brother, Taka, as they search for the kingdom of Milele.
Who is she/What has she done?
Sarabi serves as one of the film's major characters, who appears a little late in the film. She is first seen telling Mufasa and Taka not to eat her scout, Zazu as she searches for any of her pride members who had survived the Outsider's attack. The two follow her but stop to hunt along the way. There, they encounter Rafiki, who they decide to follow to Milele.
On the way, they notice the Outsiders following them, and Sarabi crosses the Goodness Zone by knocking a Beehive into a herd of elephants, causing a stampede that halts the Outsiders and saves Mufasa and Taka. She then gets knocked out and revived by Rafiki, and eventually chooses to be with Mufasa over Taka, despite the former hesitating in favor of his brother. She is last seen with him when he becomes King of Milele after Kiros is defeated.
In the 2019 movie, she has almost the same role as her original counterpart, although she is seen rejecting Scar's offer to be her queen twice.
Admirable Standards
Easily passes. She was able to save Mufasa, Taka and Rafiki just by knocking a beehive over, and rejects Scar's offer to be her queen twice. Of course, Simba and Mufasa are more admirable, but they are more powerful due to being absolute monarchs, so Sarabi can't really be compared to them.
Mitigating Factors
Now, you could argue that her knocking over a beehive counts as a Kick the Dog moment, but the reason it counts as her Goodness Zone crossing is because she ends up saving Mufasa, Taka, and Rafiki due to the elephants halting the Outsiders, (who were already after them) not to mention it wasn't done out of malice, and overall, her intentions were only ever good. (i.e. to save the trio from the outsiders, and not to disturb the bees).
She isn't shown to have any corrupting factors in the 2019 movie either, instead pulling off two corruption rejections.
Overall, Sarabi has no corrupting factors.
Final Verdict?
Not sure myself, but the decision is up to y'all.
