Yelana

My people are innocent. We would've never attacked first.Yelana defending her people.

Yelana is a supporting character in Frozen II. She is the leader of the Northuldra people, inhabitants in the Enchanted Forest.

She was voiced by Martha Plimpton.

Biography

Prior to movie

After the Northuldra's previous leader was murdered by King Runeard, Yelana took on the role as the new leader of them. Following the Northuldra- and Arendellian- war an impenetrable, thick mist encapsulated the Enchanted Forest. Yelana's rule over her people took place in a worrying time. Not only the Northuldra were imprisoned in the forest, also a small group of Arendellian Guards led by Lieutenant Mattias. A rivalry formed between Yelana and Mattias because each side blamed the other for the war long ago that caused the forest's curse.

Frozen II

Yelana is first seen when Lieutenant Mattias together with the Arendellian Guards and the Northuldra confronts Elsa and her friends. Elsa uses her powers to defend herslef and her friends which Yelana and Mattias gets surprised by. Olaf tells them that Elsa have elemental ice powers and that Anna and Elsa are Arendellain royalty. Yelana says it's strange why nature would give power to a person from Arendelle and Mattias says that it's maybe compensation for what the Northuldra did. Elsa explain that her mission can save the forest but Yelana doesn't trust her as the Northuldra only trusts nature.

Bruni or the Fire Spirit tried to make Yelana evacuate her people by setting the forest on fire. Although Elsa, with her ice magic tames the Fire Spirit. Yelana later finds out that Anna and Elsa's late mother was from the Northuldra and Yelana leads the ceremony to welcome Anna and Elsa to the tribe. When the Earth Giants comes to the Northuldran camp Elsa leaves with Olaf and Anna, leaving Kristoff and Sven behind.

The day after, Yelana declines Kristoff's proposal meant for Anna. She says that Elsa and Anna are long gone and advice him not to follow. Yelana also invites Kristoff to join the Northuldra on their travles. Eventually Elsa learns the truth about the war between the Northuldra and Arendelle. Elsa discovers that King Runeard was the one who instigated the war. He wanted to build a dam in the forest that were supposed to drain the Northuldra's magic. Anna and Elsa uses the Earth Giants to destroy the dam and the curse vanishes. Yelana and Mattias' rivalry comes to an end when the curse is lifted. Elsa returns and tells Yelana and Honeymaren about her journey. Honeymaren invites her to stay with the Northuldra and Elsa agrees.
