Gentaro Yumeno, a.k.a. Phantom, is a novelist and the second member of Fling Posse.
Official Profile
A famous novelist who pens a vast range of genres. He is an elusive person whose words and actions are often a mix of truth and falsehoods, dressing like a man of a bygone era.
Appearance
Gentaro has layered neck-length pale brown hair with long bangs. His eyes are emerald green with a lavender highlight on top.
He wears a white kosode with a black button-up turtleneck underneath and a black capelet on top. The capelet has a patterned amethyst purple underside, and on the lapels has a chain connecting either side. The right side of this chain has the Fling Posse logo on it. On bottom, he wears a steel gray hakama with a black obi, that has a dusty yellow cord that appears to be tied in a Ume-musubi knot tied around it. His shoes are black cap toe boots.
Gentaro’s Hypnosis Mic looks like a candlestick telephone. His speakers take the form of red pedestal lanterns with omikuji flying around.
Personality
Not much is known about Gentaro's true behavior and personality, as he masks it by pretending to be someone else. On the outside, he comes off as snarky, quirky, and snide. He lies constantly, both to tease and conceal. Although acts smooth, he is shown to be rather awkward, preferring to keep to himself and observe. Behind the mask, he is very loyal to his friends and loved ones, willing to put himself at risk to protect them.

Etymology
- Gentaro means "phantom/ghost/illusion", (幻) (gen), "thick, big" (太) (ta) and "son" (郎) (ro).
- "Taro" is a typical boy's name which alternatively can be found in multiple other male names.
- Yumeno means "dream" (夢) (yume) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
- Yumeno is most likely a reference to author Yumeno Kyusaku, who mainly focused on writing novels based in surrealism and romanticism.
- It could also be considered a pun as it can be read as "Gentaro of dreams" with the Japanese name order (yume no Gentaro), fitting in with his habit to "dream up" stories.
Trivia
- Gentaro's original quote "What do you want meaning for? Life is desire, not meaning." comes from Charlie Chaplin's 1952 film "Limelight".
- With the release of the .Fling Posse album, Gentaro's quote changed to "Being honest may not get you many friends but it'll always get you the right ones." This quote was originally said by John Lennon.
- Gentaro mainly uses the old-fashioned pronoun "shousei" (小生) to refer to himself. Due to his tendency to change his voice's pitch or sound to make characters, such as a princess or an old man, he sometimes uses pronouns as "watashi", "ore", "boku", "maro" or "warawa".
- In the music video for Hoodstar, a sign behind Fling Posse reads “No Longer Human” and it is most likely a reference to the popular Japanese author named Dazai Osamu's best-selling novel called "No Longer Human". The plot of the novel follows a boy who is isolated from his peers and finds himself surrounded by misfortune due to his lack of understanding of human beings.

- He has a brother, and is the younger of the two.
- He is actually not the real Gentaro, and has been pretending to be his brother for some time.[2]
