John Negroponte
John Dimitri Negroponte (/ˌnɛɡroʊˈpɒnti/; lahir 21 Juli 1939) adalah seorang diplomat Amerika Serikat. Ia sekarang adalah James R. Schlesinger Distinguished Professor at the Miller Center for Public Affairs di Universitas Virginia. Ia adalah mantan J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of International Affairs di Elliott School of International Affairs dari George Washington University.[1] Sebelum pelantikannya, ia menjabat sebagai anggota riset dan dosen dalam urusan internasional di Jackson Institute for Global Affairs dari Universitas Yale, Wakil Menteri Luar Negeri Amerika Serikat (2007–2009), dan Direktur Intelijensi Nasional (2005–2007).
Negroponte menjabat dalam Kementerian Luar Negeri Amerika Serikat dari 1960 sampai 1997. Dari 1981 sampai 1996, ia bertugas sebagai duta besar Amerika Serikat di Honduras, Meksiko, dan Filipina. Setelah meninggalkan Kementerian Luar Negeri, ia kemudian menjabat dalam pemerintahan Bush sebagai perwakilan permanen AS untuk Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa dari 2001 sampai 2004, dan menjadi dubes untuk Irak dari Juni 2004 sampai April 2005. Pada November 2010, beberapa surat Negroponte dirilis di situs web WikiLeaks.[2]
