Recruitment
Inazuma Eleven
In order to recruit Sanzu, Chapter 4 has to be cleared first. After selecting him through Natsumi, he will be in Raimon under the tree in front of the gate that leads to the Inazuma General Hospital and will challenge the player to a soccer battle once talked to.
His name, Sanzu Wataru, can be read as 三途の川渡る (read as "Sanzu no kawa wataru"), which, in turn, means cross theSanzu River, a Japanese Bhuddist river where souls must cross before reaching their afterlife, a reference to Occult's naming motif. Interestingly, his appearance is based on a yuurei's.
His dub nickname, Styx, is a reference to the eponymous Greek equivalent of the Sanzu River, which is also a reference to Occult's dub naming motif. Incidentally, his dub surname, Walk, is a synonym of cross, a further reference to River Styx.
