Nanotyrannus (meaning "dwarf tyrant") is a dubious genus of tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period. As of 2020, following a study conducted by Thomas Carr into the growth series of Tyrannosaurus, Nanotyrannus is considered a synonym of the tyrant lizard king, being its juvenile growth stage. However, a recent study published in 2024 showed that the specimens were nearly adults and if they really were Tyrannosaurus, they would not have been at that stage such as their longer arms. Despite the 2024 study, many scientists still say Nanotyrannus is a juvenile Tyrannosaurus but the genus remains dubious.
