The Black Pit is a secret Cave level in Kid Chameleon.
Walkthrough
A very straightforward level to traverse from left to right. There are two paths, both with a teleporter at the end, but it doesn't really matter which you take, since they both feed into Lion's Den anyway. However, the upper part of the level is much easier to survive. EyeClops is a big help here, since he can enlighten some blocks that will squish monsters up there. Furthermore, the lava from the bottom becomes a hazard only late in the level. You have to watch out though for evil platforms in the form of fake steel swings that will crush you at the ceiling and also fake steel platforms, that will either rise and crush you or drop down and give you a free lava bath. There's an ankh on the way up there as well.
Secrets
- On the bottom path, just past the fourth lava geyser, there are three blocks that are worth 10,000 points each, located four spaces above the floor. The left and right sides are sealed off below by columns of two rubber and steel blocks, respectively, all which is underlain by a bed of ice blocks.
- These are most easily broken with a Skycutter helmet, as there is one conveniently located at the start of the level.
- Red Stealth and Iron Knight can also be used for this task, since they too can break blocks from above. Using either is quite difficult, though, since bringing Red Stealth to this level requires a tricky jump in The Valley of Life, and the last Iron Knight helmet is seen all the way back at Elsewhere 10!
- The only way all three blocks can be opened from below is with Berzerker. You could try steelswiping the steel blocks on the right, but you'll only be able to open two of them. Instead, start charging the left side of the underlying ice blocks, which unfortunately starts ajacent to a lava pool. Due to this, it is extremely hard to charge enough blocks before all your hitpoints are depleted, so be sure to have a round of Invulnerability available. Once enough ice blocks are broken, you'll have to start doing crouching charges to break the rest beneath the rubber blocks. Now, crawl through the passage you've created and retrieve your bounty!
