Hermeneutica est ratio et usus interpretationis textuum,[1][2] praecipue interpretationis textuum bibilicorum, litterarum sapientiae, et textuum philosophicorum.[3][4]

Hermeneutica primum ad interpretationem (exegesis) textuum religiosorum adhibita est, ratio intellegendi humani per opera Friderici Schleiermacher, Gulielmi Dilthey, Martini Heidegger, Ioannis Georgii Gadamer, Pauli Ricoeur, Northrop Frye, Gualterii Benjamin, Iacobi Derrida, et Friderici Jameson orta.[5] Hermeneutica hodierna communicationem verborum et non verborum, cum semiotica, praesuppositionibus, et praeintellegentiis comprehendit.

Nomina hermeneutica et exegesis aliquando per mutuo adhibentur; hermeneutica autem est disciplina latior, qui communicationem scriptam, dictam, et non dictam amplectitur, cum exegesis textus principio tractat. Hermeneutica, nomen substantivum singulare, certam interpretationis rationem attingit (vide, contra, hermeneuticam duplicem). Constantia hermeneutica dicitur cohaerens textuum explicatio. Hermeneutica philosophica est plerumque ratio scientiae a Martino Heidegger coepta et ab Ioanne Georgio Gadamer in Truth and Method (1960) evoluta; quae aliquando rationes Pauli Ricoeur tractat.[6]

Hermeneutica Marxista plerumque evoluta est per opus Gualterii Benjamin et Friderici Jameson. Benjamin suam rationem allegoriae adumbrat in Ursprung des deutschen Trauerspiel, magno opere.[7] Jameson vicissim hermeneuticam biblicam opusque Northrop Frye evolvit ut suam hermeneuticae Marxistae rationem promoveret in The Political Unconscious, libro magni momenti. Hermeneutica Jamesoniana adumbratur in primo capitulo, "On Interpretation" inscripto.[8] Jameson quadruplicem exegesis biblicae rationem, vel gradus quattuor (literales, morales, allegoricos, anagogicos), ad interpretationem cum modo productionis et demum cum historia coniungendam iterum interpretatur et profanam facit.[9]
