Simba is totally unfair! He makes us be in competitions that he knows he'll always win!Crocodile to Rhino and Zebra
A Great Team is a German comic inspired by The Lion King. It was published by Ehapa Verlag on August 10, 2004.
Synopsis
Simba began to challenge other young animals to competitions in which he held an unfair advantage. First, he bested Rhino in a jumping contest. Next, he beat Zebra in a climbing competition. Finally, he defeated Crocodile in a foot race. After the competitions, the young animals expressed frustration with Simba's unreasonable standards, and Crocodile proposed that they turn the tables.
Together, the young animals informed Simba that they would only compete again if they could make the rules. Though inwardly suspicious of his friends' motives, Simba agreed to their terms.
For the first competition, the young animals held a tree trunk rolling contest. As the competition began, Simba protested that Rhino was the only one strong enough to roll a tree trunk, and Rhino concurred with a laugh. Thinking quickly, Simba worked with Crocodile and Zebra to roll a tree trunk ahead of Rhino. In the face of their defeat, Rhino objected that they were supposed to be the strongest, but Simba pointed out that he, Crocodile, and Zebra had wanted to see if they could win by working together.
For the next competition, the young animals held a swimming race, and Crocodile swiftly took the lead. In the midst of the race, two crocodiles began to chase Zebra, and Simba warned Crocodile about the danger. Before the crocodiles could harm Zebra, Crocodile ordered them to leave his friend alone, and Zebra took advantage of the distraction to escape to shore. Once his friends were safe, Crocodile lamented having lost the race, but Rhino remarked that he had saved Zebra's life and that they all knew he was the strongest swimmer.
For the final competition, the young animals held a foot race to the border of the Pride Lands. At first, Simba sprinted ahead of the others, but as his stamina began to run out, Rhino and Zebra both ran past him. While catching his breath on the sidelines with Crocodile, Simba noticed that Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed had cornered Rhino and Zebra at the edge of a gorge up ahead. As one, Crocodile and Simba charged at the hyenas, but Crocodile lost his footing and started a rockslide. Fearful that Simba's pride was coming, the hyenas fled.
With the danger abated, the young animals praised Simba for his daring rescue, but he pointed out that he would not have succeeded without Crocodile's rockslide. Rhino commented that they were strong together, and Crocodile added that each of them was skillful in their own way. Simba asked cheekily if he would win the next race, and Zebra joked that he would, but only if he did not brag.
