Petrovburg National Heroes

This article describes about the ancient heroes of Petrovburg. For the modern version, see Petrovburg Heroes.

There are some notable national heroes of the Republic of Petrovburg, mostly the historical gentlemen who were first discovered and founded Petrovburg long before the series' present day. Vladimir, Sweyn, and Zhukov served as the leaders of the Earth humans, the magical elements, and the spiritual ponies tribes respectively. meanwhile Tevfik, Nobunaga, and John were their advisors/seconds-in-command.

General depictions

The Petrovburger national heroes are mentioned in several Luna the Miracle Boy story episodes. Long ago, before the rule of Vladimir Diana, the Earth humans, the magical elements, and the spiritual ponies were divided by hatred and only cared about their own tribe. The tense peace between these tribes is eventually broken by a mysterious blizzard.

Here are some notable national heroes:

Tribes Leaders Advisors/seconds-in-command
Earth Humans Sweyn Forkbeard Oda Nobunaga
Spiritual Ponies Vladimir Vernadsky Tevfik Toyotomi
Magical Elements Rikardo Zhukov John Arsil
Naval Admiral Nikolai Luznetsov (vacant)

Sweyn Forkbeard of the Earth Humans' tribe, Prince Vladimir of the Spiritual Ponies' tribe, and Chancellor Zhukov of the Magical Elements' tribe hold a summit to figure out how to cope with the blizzard, but they are unable to reach an agreement. After the three leaders confer with their subordinates: Nobunaga as the Humans' advisor, Tevfik of the Spiritual Ponies, and Elements' secretary John, they decide to set out and find a new land.

The three pairs all meet in the same location and argue over whom has the first stake over the new land, causing another blizzard to start. The six gentlemen take shelter in a cave, but as Sweyn, Zhukov, and Vladimir continue to argue, they are soon frozen in ice. John identifies the cause of the blizzard to be Lusatia – winter spirits that feed on hatred.

Despite the animosity between their leaders and tribes, Nobunaga, Tevfik, and John maintain warm relations, and they eventually break the windigos' spell through the Fire of Friendship. Their warmth thaws their leaders' bodies and melts their hearts, and the leaders decide to share the new land, naming it "Petrovburg".

He calls Sweyn "the father of the amniomorphic spell", "the most important conjurer of the pre-classical era", and adds "he created more than 200 spells! He even has a shelf in Canterlot Presidential library of magic named after him." Later in the episode, Princess Finlandia recognizes Luna as Sweyn Forkbeard and compliments him for that costume. Celestia stating that he "even got the bells right", but other Petrovs guess that Luna is dressing as a "blonde-haired hero" or the "presidential prince of Norway".

The Journal of the Vernadsky Family

The Petrovburg national heroes are mentioned frequently in the journal entries of the Vernadsky Children (Celestia and Luna). John, Nobunaga, and Tevfik act as representatives of Sweyn and approach Artemis and Finlandia to be the pioneers of the recently founded Petrovburg.

When Celestia, Luna, and their parents finish constructing their royal house, they meet Prince Vladimir of the Spiritual Ponies with his wife — Roman Butterfly. Vladimir acts disrespectfully to the Vernadsky Family at first and calls them "blank flanks". After Luna and Prince Artemis pull a prank on Vladimir, he apologizes for his behavior, and a boy with two men starts over as friends.

John, Nobunaga, and Tevfik also become victims of Celestia's pranks, but Chancellor Zhukov outsmarts her. Due to Vernadsky's influence, Zhukov makes better leadership decisions, and Commander Tevfik learns to control his short temper.

Tevfik Toyotomi

Tevfik Toyotomi is Vladimir's royal advisor and Sweyn's apprentice. He is portrayed as very short-tempered and has a militaristic manner of speech.

John Arsil

John is Chancellor Zhukov's secretary. He is portrayed as rational and straight-thinking as a counterbalance to Zhukov's eccentricities.

For example, an enter-play collectible card game expansion set card of Secretary John gives him the description "After helping to fuel the Fire of Friendship, John went on to revolutionize farming and irrigation systems throughout the budding nation of Petrovburg."

Nikolai Luznetsov
