Hello, do you plan to work on this page you tagged? --Nemo 16:52, 21 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ah, just noticed that you not just welcomed me. Well now i have not TA flag here so i cant mark it for translation :) Or you're about moving old system translations after that? --Base (talk) 14:40, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Nope, I don't plan to migrate translations for this specific page myself. But yes, we're trying to work much more on translation migration! Project:Language_policy/Migration_list. --Nemo 19:36, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Too much work for few TAs :( --Base (talk) 19:43, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
That's why I'm trying to involve some non-TA new users for the manual work. :) We just have to ensure that they're never too bored. :P --Nemo 19:51, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Essential is at least not to became bored ourselves :) BTW what's your opinion on topic below ↓ ? I don't think these old data should just be digged in history where nobody is able to e.g. fix a typo… --Base (talk) 19:59, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
No opinion on what below, sorry. But keep the devs happy. ;) --Nemo 20:51, 18 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

OAuth (obsolete info)

edit

Hi there. Any particular reason why we should keep OAuth (obsolete info) on this wiki? Even with the new title, it's still obsolete and confusing clutter that isn't terribly useful. If this really needs to be kept around, could you please at least make sure that no pages are linking to it, and instead are linking to a more up-to-date counterpart? Thanks. -- RobLa-WMF (talk) 00:23, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Translate in non-English wikis

edit

It's already the second time you ask this question on IRC and then leave before I have time to reply. :) Yes, it's possible. There isn't anything special to do, it works out of the box. --Nemo 22:10, 14 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Re your IRC message, see above. --Nemo 09:00, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nemo, Oh I didn't notice the first message here, sorry. Erm, but what about that variable I mentioned in irc? Won't it prevent translating from Ukrainian (that's the sourcelanguage I'm interested in) to English with reasoning that "English's the sourcelanguage"? Are there already Wikimedia wikis with Translate being enabled and sourcelanguage different than English? I don't know whether my proposal about enabling it will be supported but I should know that it's possible what I want). --Base (talk) 16:50, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
If the wiki is in Ukrainian, that's the (default) source language. And yes, we have wmca:, wmbr: and wmbe: using Translate. WMBE is quite special because they want to deal with two source languages, ignore that one. :) --Nemo 19:34, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nemo it's just as I thought [1] there *is* the problem I supposed to occur it seems. --Base (talk) 23:38, 15 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
What's the problem you supposed to occur? The source language is pt-br in that page, AFAICS. The message "English is the source language" is just a misconfiguration in WMF. Check wikiapiary:Extension:Translate to check "true" non-English wikis. --Nemo 08:33, 16 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nemo The problem with wgTranslateBlacklist setting (I was doubting possibility of non en as source lang basing on it back in IRC). Unless it's fixed it's impossible to use it properly as English's and important language to be translated to for wikis not in it. Is there a way to fix the configuration? --Base (talk) 22:43, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yep, I already submitted a patch: gerrit:190783. --Nemo 07:26, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nemo, Cool but opposite issue happens to exist. Is it possible to show similar message in all sourcelanguage cases (would be cool to have not )? It seems that now it's possible translate to en-ca in wmca and to pt-br in wmbr. It would also nice to have this localizable. Seems like the best is to do it somewhere on extension's part instead of configs' --Base (talk) 08:28, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand your request, perhaps you mean phabricator:T89637? I'm not aware of issues in the default Translate configuration, so far we've only found errors in WMF configuration. --Nemo 08:33, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Nemo, Aha. And same for en-ca. I think both possibilities to translate could be stopped with that wgTranslateBlacklist but it's unwise to set it manually for each new adder sourcelanguage somewhere. It also would be nice to have that output text in user' interface language rather than in whatever language someone wrote it in config. --Base (talk) 09:38, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
