Duplicate with incorrect faulty links
editWhy on earth was this made? We have CCAB ID (P1890). What's more, none of the example links are correct. Jay D. Easy (talk) 22:56, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- This property should not have been created. It is incorrect and CCAB ID (P1890) already does the job. --Cuatro Remos (talk) 22:16, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- Pinging @ديفيد عادل وهبة خليل 2, Sergey kudryavtsev, Vladimir Alexiev, Trade, Pigsonthewing, Kolja21: since they were involved in the approval discussion of this totally incorrect property. What's the point of having this dupped? By the way, ALL OF THE VIAF "citations" to National Library of Chile ID are incorrect. These should not be merged here. They indicate, though, there is a corresponding BNC ID which should be found manually, not automatically imported. --Cuatro Remos (talk) 22:21, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
- +1. I still don't understand what is the benefit of this property. --Kolja21 (talk) 00:52, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Jay D. Easy, Cuatro Remos, Kolja21: I was the original proposer and the discussion is at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Property_proposal/National_Library_of_Chile_ID. I want to assure you I made the proposal in good faith (while looking for missed VIAF contributor props), and asked "Do you know any Chileans who we can involve in this discussion?" So please also criticize this in good faith.
- Look at the VIAF record https://viaf.org/viaf/10960703/ of president Michelle Bachelet. It contains https://viaf.org/processed/BNCHL%7C10000000000000000223672, which can be mapped to http://www.bncatalogo.cl/F?func=direct&local_base=bnc10&doc_number=000223672, which is National Library of Chile ID (P7369)
- In contrast, http://www.bncatalogo.cl/F?func=direct&local_base=red10&doc_number=000606940 is CCAB ID (P1890)
- If you look at https://viaf.org/viaf/10960703/rdf.xml, you will see http://viaf.org/viaf/sourceID/BNCHL%7C10000000000000000223672 listed in http://viaf.org/authorityScheme/BNCHL (National Library of Chile), but 606940 is not listed.
- Someone had made a wrong "formatter URL" for National Library of Chile ID (P7369) that mixed up the bncatalogo.cl formatter and the viaf.org third-party formatter. I've now fixed this, and after a short while the "Wikidata property example" links should work
- The 3 examples in the property proposal work ok!
- So BN Chile has two IDs for each person and two pages with info about them. VIAF sources National Library of Chile ID (P7369), so I think we must also have it. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 17:10, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you Vladimir Alexiev. It's much clearer now. I proposed the original property (this is my alternate, but now definitive account, and that's why I never received a notification) so I would've been interested in participating in the discussion of this one. This new property does not link to the actual authority record which is shared by the National Library, the National Congress Library and the Pontifical Catholic University Library; instead, it seems to be the DIBAM (national libraries coordinator) authority record. This could and should be specified. Thanks for your efforts Vladimir. --Cuatro Remos (talk) 18:42, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Cuatro Remos: Feel free to add/change labels and descriptions of this prop, but the code BNCHL should stay as it's the code used in VIAF. It's strange why VIAF picked a DIBAM code instead of the code that is used more widely in Chile. http://viaf.org/viaf/sourceID/BNCHL%7C10000000000000000223672 is broken now, but when it worked, it showed 606940 as a secondary "red10" code (see the property proposal) --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 16:53, 26 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Vladimir Alexiev: thanks for the explanation. Makes sense! I stand corrected. I initially thought this was a effectively a duplicate. Take care! Jay D. Easy (talk) 18:58, 27 November 2019 (UTC)

Not working?
editIt seems, that the links don't work, they return error message El archivo solicitado no fue encontrado en el servidor. — Draceane talkcontrib. 11:37, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, yes they changed their website so the URL that use this ID is not available anymore. I tried to find where they moved this info, but I had no luck. I think now they are only using CCAB ID (P1890). Soylacarli (talk) 21:19, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
