Mvh. Orf3us (talk) 22:17, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Boberger (talk) 22:22, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Mvh. Orf3us (talk) 22:57, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Boberger (talk) 12:15, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Obs!
Well, also this second time these funny missspellings occur. I make a try to edit in English instead:
Thanks, I believed you would. Thanks very much for making these corrections. I'm sure there were a number of wrong tranlations, but hopefully I'll learn little by little over time.Boberger (talk) 12:21, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Peace Treaties in Art 30 x 30 Challenge

edit

Hej Boberger! I am Iñaki LL, a Wikipedian in residence at the San Telmo Museoa, Donostia-San Sebastián. We are holding the Peace Treaties in Art 30 x 30 Challenge in collaboration with Donostia-San Sebastián European Capital of Culture 2016 with a view to fostering a culture of peace and based on its Peace Treaty exhibitions at different city locations.

Your outstanding participation in the recent, similar Europeana contest grabbed my attention, and would really love to have all your good wikipedic and artistic know-how poured into this inspirational challenge :p The contest will reach its climax in an edit-a-thon we will be holding on July 9! Take a look, hopefully see you virtually or on site, all contributions welcome, tack! Iñaki LL (talk) 11:54, 24 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello.

Can you create the article en:Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Swedish just like the article sv:Opera i Armenien which you uploaded? I attended these two opera houses and was pleasantly surprised and enthralled how rich the repertoire of these internationally almost unknown opera houses of these overlooked Caucasian countries are.

Thank you.

Thank you for informing me of this! Boberger (talk) 15:54, 17 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your work in maintaining Wikidata. I have a small suggestion to improve your future work. If you notice that two items are duplicates, please merge them instead of blanking one of them as you did with the item Q107156963. External sites use Wikidata identifiers, so it is important that we preserve the chain of references. We do this by making one item a redirect for the other. In particular, item ids are intended to be a permanent identifier, so we never reuse them for another concept. See Help:Merge for more information on how to merge items, and consider installing the Merge Gadget. Thanks!  Bovlb (talk) 14:11, 9 June 2021 (UTC) --Bovlb (talk) 14:11, 9 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. My problem in this case was that I created a duplicate before I noticed that somebody already had created a post. So, in the future I will merge posts in similar situations. Boberger (talk) 17:56, 9 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Q832003

edit

What's the purpose of this? Why did you split this item in two? I fail to see any reason for your seemingly random disconnects. Grüße vom Sänger ♫ (talk) 10:36, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would not call this a split. It is rather an introduction of a Wikidata item for a sub-category.
It maybe different, but at least in some languages there is a difference between horse driven railways and horse driven tramways (streetcars), as it normally is between railways and tramways. In the Swedish language (and probably in some other languages) there is also a specific term for

all horsedriven rail traffic ("hästbana", equivalent to "Pferdebahn" in German). Thus in Swedish "hästspårväg" is just a part amount of "hästbana". My idea was to get items in Wikidata which are adequate for such a distinction (to be used for those languages that have distinct terms for this). Logically there could be a third item, namely for the term for such horsedriven rail systems, which are not horsedriven tramways (streetcars).

The change of the earlier Wikipedia connections for Wikidata Q832003 is not really random. For some languages you can easily see in the Wikipedia that the items connected in Wikidata Q832003 really refers to horsedriven tramways and not to the "higher" category for horsedriven rail systems at large (e.g. Norwegian, Dutch, French and Russian). In other cases I've not been able interpret the text and therefore not changed Wikidata item number for such articles. I guess that some more Wikipedia articles now connected to Q832003, actually are "specialised" articles on horsedriven trams.
I admit that the result is not totally satisfying, but I wonder what the alternative would have been. If there is scope for a specific Wikidata item for horse driven tramways, linked to a Wikipedia article with specialized content, it would be incorrect not to link the new item also to Wikipedia articles with the same content in other languages.
Maybe the sort of randomness you critizise could be eliminated by a more thorough reading of other Wikipedia articles with the help of Google translate to deem whether the content refers to the sub-category "horsedriven tramway" rather than to the head-category for all horsedriven rail systems. Boberger (talk) 13:08, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The main result is, that the interwikilinks are now broken, and interwikilinks are one of the precious things, that must eb kept in consideration with such changes. How to you plan to connect the now disconnected articles in the different wikipedias again? Grüße vom Sänger ♫ (talk) 18:48, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
In which way are any iw links broken? Boberger (talk) 22:23, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Articles, the should be linked, are no longer linked. It's a general problem with the atomisation of items in WD. Can you tell me, in wich language version you found those three different articles, that made this disconnect necessary? Grüße vom Sänger ♫ (talk) 03:59, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
8 links were removed from Q832003 (Horsecar, Pferdebahn, etc): sv, fr, no, nl, pl, eu, sh, uk. All 8 links have been attached to the new Q107992521 (Tramway hippodrome, paardentram, etc). So there is no one article orphaned.
The problem is rather than possibly a few more articles should be more precisely linked not to Category Pferdebahn but to (Sub)category Tramway hippodrome (what you refer to as randomness). Boberger (talk) 19:12, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The problem is, that this atomisation makes WD more and more useless as the host for interwikilinks, all those articles should be reachable from one language version of wikipedia to another one, without nerdy detours via WD. In combination with the official restrictions for items for redirects this makes one of the main esecases for WD less and less useful. Grüße vom Sänger ♫ (talk) 04:32, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can agree with you on a principle level. Although you have to look on the specific items, which the case in question well illustrates. The advantage of a distinction articlewise (and therefore also on Wikidata) between "Horse tram" and "Horse railway" and the higher category "Horse driven rail traffic" are obvious. The problem you observe has to solved in some other way. Boberger (talk) 12:28, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Q108761678 och Q106708227

edit

Hej Boberger,

QubeCube (talk) 13:59, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Boberger (talk) 16:12, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
The two objects are now merged. Boberger (talk) 16:33, 1 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
After more thoughts about this matter, I´ve come to a new conclusion. Although the two objects are physically adjecent, they are in many (most ?) ways different objects. Therefore, I have created av new item for "Guldkroksbadet" Guldkroksbadet (Q108783923) and published an article on Guldkroksbadet on Wikipedia in Swedish. Svenske etiketter på danske kirker

edit
