Catalan wiki seems to have two articles on the Villa Medici in Rome: ca:Villa Medici and ca:Vil·la_Mèdici. Should they be merged? - PKM (talk) 04:38, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

English Wikipedia has an entry for "Schloss" as the German word for manor house, but the German Wikipedia "Schloss" is mapped to English "château". English-speaking editors will be likely to choose the English "Schloss" when the German one is needed. --PKM (talk) 05:08, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

"Schloss" added as a german label to Schloss (Q16823155), with "Herrenhaus" as an alias so german editors will find this item as well as château (Q751876) when they type "Schloss". Filceolaire (talk) 20:50, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

The two items in conflict are for two articles; one in English Wikipedia and the other in Arabic Wikipedia. The two articles talk about the same concept which is a well-known school in Alexandria, Egypt. Both items should be reduced to a single entity since it's the same concept. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by ‎Humanzz (talk • contribs).

One item is for the species, one for the genus; this creates a situation where there are two sets of articles which have interlanguage links to each other but not to the other list, despite being about the same animals. Chamberlian (talk) 22:25, 11 January 2015 (UTC) moose (Q2112320) also has the same problem.

Alces alces (Q35517) was the only of the Alces (Q10731891) genus, but recent recherch separated it into two species by creating moose (Q2112320). Even the conservative ITIS now considered moose (Q2112320) as a distinct specie. I created a short article on frwiki about Alces alces (Q35517) for the interwiki. --Fralambert (talk) 23:55, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
I think we can call it resolved: Alces (Q10731891) has all articles for the genus, while Alces alces (Q35517) and moose (Q2112320) have articles for the two species of this genus. There is nothing more to do here — NickK (talk) 21:54, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

Done Created two new items for pl en ca (the only languages that have two, but different, meanings) then merged. --Joostik (talk) 15:35, 26 February 2015 (UTC) P.S.: How did those radio compounds end up here? Seems someone reused an empty item rather than creating a new one... --Joostik (talk) 13:11, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Seeking to add sitelink pl:Adam Żmudziński to the first item and to delete it from the second, I get error messages "The link plwiki:Adam Żmudziński is already used by item Q7053731." and "Warning: The action you are about to take will remove a sitelink from this item. ..."

Until I deleted the explicit interlanguage link at EN.wiki, en:Adam Żmudziński => pl:Adam Żmudziński => en:North American Bridge Championships.

References for the fullname and birthdate (new data at Q16187381) are available at en:Adam Żmudziński. --P64 (talk) 15:06, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Fixed, now Adam Żmudziński (Q16187381) is a bridge player and North American Bridge Championships (Q7053731) is a bridge championship — NickK (talk) 22:00, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

The problem is for the English word shaft. There is a disambiguation page shaft in the English wikipedia. But there is at least 3 big classes of meaning of this word :

  1. vertical passages
  2. long narrow bodies
  3. fiction, music, places...

In other languages these 3 classes are generally not translated by the same word. For example in French, the first class matches to "puits", the second one to "arbre" and the third one is not actually translated and so matches to the word "shaft". I know it's not possible to give these 3 translations in wikidata. And actually the wikidata links are now for example :

  • in French or German : with the 3rd class
  • in Norvegian or Serbian : with the 2nd class

and so on... Is it possible to do second level disambiguation pages (and so 3 different entries in WIkidata) for these 3 classes of meaning and how ? Or is there an other solution ? --JPaul (talk) 09:14, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

JPaul, this comes up a lot on wikidata and in the end we decided that disambiguation pages relate to a spelling and not to a meaning. There are much worse cases than the one you found - for example all the disambiguation pages for "yellow" in different languages are different items on wikidata because they all have different spellings! Hard situation here but I temporary removed the Persian (fa) link from the dupe item for now and marked the template for merge locally. I guess the same can be done for ptwiki also. Thank you. −ebraminiotalk 12:21, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
