Motivation
editNot only geographic data, but this also attests to the heritage designation status of, and provides an identifier for, >20,000 Greek immovable cultural goods; thank you, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 18:44, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Discussion
editThe Church of Agia Sofia (Q68490039) at Monemvasia (Q654616) has the map search address https://www.arxaiologikoktimatologio.gov.gr/el/search-data-map/?type=Monument&id=162754; if you click on the folder icon, you are directed to the data page https://www.arxaiologikoktimatologio.gov.gr/el/monuments_info?id=162754&type=Monument; the id is the same (162754); is the one identifier sufficient? Thanks, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 20:17, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- I checked to see if "https://www.arxaiologikoktimatologio.gov.gr/el/monuments_info?id=" would be sufficient for the URL format, but unfortunately it doesn't cover the "Museum" type. That's sad as this URL format would be better choice for linking to the actual data rather than having to do two clicks on the map to view them in a separate page (as clicking on the URL only zooms the map on that location highlighting the item).
Also, this online catalogue of the monuments (which acts as a replacement of "odysseus.culture.gr" especially after the outage it occurred to it last year) contains some location issues. Most of them not severe, but there are occasions which the location is totally unrelated. One severe occasion is Church of Saint Charalampus, Argos (Q112481362) which arxaiologikoktimatologio points at a location where another church of the same name exists but is unrelated with the one it describes (about 500m away).
In general, I'm pretty fine with this proposal. It's something that is needed now that we have this more modern digital list of cultural heritage (more modern than odysseus.culture.gr I mean, even though arxaiologikoktimatologio.gov.gr seems to contain much less description than the other).--Jimkats (talk) 22:09, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
