I am Riesz. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.3D selection
Riesz (リース, Rīsu) (Lise in the fan translation) is one of the six main characters of Trials of Mana. She is 16 years old, 5 ft. 6 in. tall (167 cm), and weighs 119 lbs (54 kg).
Profile
Appearance
Riesz is a young woman with long blonde hair tied into a low ponytail with a green ribbon and blue eyes. In her default Amazon class, Riesz wears a green dress, fringed at the waist with a low neckline, and a winged coronet with a gem in the center. She also wears green shoulder pads and brown/purplish brown boots and fingerless gloves. Around her wrist is another green ribbon, a memento of her mother. She wields spears and other polearms as her weapons of choice.
Personality
Riesz is soft-spoken, yet stoic and determined to accomplish what she sets her mind to. As a mother figure to her own brother, she is shown to be firm with him as well as highly protective of him. Perhaps because of her royal upbringing, she is exceptionally formal and polite when speaking with others. She prefers to avoid involving others in matters of state or her personal struggles, begrudgingly accepting the aid given to her on multiple occasions.
Story
Mother... I leave Father and the other fallen to your care. Elliot is my responsibility. I wear my mother's ribbon with pride. May it protect me on my journey.Riesz
Riesz is the princess of the mountainous Laurent, Kingdom of Wind (Rolante in the fan translation), and captain of its Amazon army. After her mother, Minerva, dies while giving birth to her younger brother, Elliot, Riesz vows to take care of him. However, two mysterious ninjas from Nevarl, Bil and Ben, discreetly trick Elliott into turning off Laurent's protective winds and promptly kidnap him. With the winds gone, Nevarl attacks Laurent with a cloud of sleep powder and succeeds in taking the castle. The king and Riesz's father, Joster, is fatally wounded in the struggle. Devastated by the loss of everything she holds dear, Riesz makes her escape and travels to the Holy City Wendel to seek counsel from the Priest of Light.
Riesz shares many story elements with Hawkeye, who escaped from Nevarl prior to the invasion of Laurent. If either of them is chosen as the main hero in Trials of Mana, the main villain will be His Dark Majesty and the final dungeon will be the Dark Castle.
Abilities
Riesz's stats are very well-balanced, making her a handy character in almost any situation. Her Strength, Agility, and Vitality are all above-average. After changing classes, Riesz gains the ability to manipulate the stats of others - her Light classes can raise the heroes' stats and her Dark classes can lower enemies' stats. All four of her final classes learn a summon spell that affects all enemies.
Classes
Below is a list of Riesz's classes. The first class change takes place at Level 18, while the second one takes place at Level 38, with the latter requiring specific items acquired from ??? Seeds.
Her starting class is named "Amazon". The origin of the word comes from ancient Greek, and it means "without one breast" ("a-" = without, "mazos" = breast), because the amazons of the original legend cut off their left breast in order to better use the bow (which has been debunked).

Valkyrie
Within myth, it is said that there are experiences that can only be explained as spiritual awakenings; an elevated sense of spiritual awareness, calls from the spiritual realm, visions and messages from the heavens, or even summonings and quests through to the other side. Within Fa'Diel, to those who walk the ways of the warrior, even those who go through their lives fighting come to experience these transcendent experiences at one point or another, with many legends and stories telling of prestigious warriors bearing themes of undergoing this allusive phenomena. To one such class of warriors, none could have more prevalent callings than that of the Valkyrie. Taking up the mantle of the divine warriors said to be seen alongside the Mana Goddess and act as Her messengers and guides of the souls of those who have recently passed, the Valkyries of the mortal world act just the same, taking up heavenly vows to uphold the sacred orders of ensuring the stability of Fa'Diel and to enact divine justice wherever there has been wrong, with rightful judgement to correct or even send beyond when circumstances permit. With their elevated experience of becoming closer to the spiritual realm, so have Valkyries attained higher levels of spiritual sensitivity and understanding the power of the soul, allowing them the ability to unlock the inner power and potential within all things.
Vanadis
Found to have the qualities and fulfillments to ascend to the highest planes of the heavens, the Vanadis are the heavenly Valkyries of legend who lead the Mana Goddess's messengers and armies as their lofty generals. Taking on the name of a faraway warrior goddess of fertility, beauty, love, battle, and the dead who directly aided the Mana Goddess Herself when She walked the world of Fa'Diel upon its creation, candidate Vanadis are selected from maidens of great beauty and grace within the trials and tumults of life; from not just from merely beauty of appearance, but from beauty of heart and soul, the beauty of skill and intellect, and the beauty of embodying life in all of its perfections and imperfections. Acting as the avatars and extensions of the original Vanadis herself, so do chosen Vanadis face the dangers and conflicts of the world, even greater than what normal Valkyrie can face, with unerring grace, tasked to these heavenly amazon who embody the goddess of love and war and are able to face all such things equally. Into the realm of battle, the Vanadis lords over its breadth, from the simplest of skirmishes to the great scale of war, and as a general, the Vanadis is able to draw upon the divine arcana of fertility and latency with their ever grown powers of the spiritual, to fully realize the talents and abilities of what one has been gifted with to their greatest, and further call upon Vanadis herself for her blessings in the bleakest times.
Starlancer (Star Lancer)
Dwelling instead in the celestial heavens, the Starlancer lives amongst the constellations and stars of Fa'Diel, and work with the heavenly courts and spirits who oversee the everyday course of the world below. These Valkyrie are those of the highest ranks who have walked many paths in their duties and command great experience, able to transcend away from their earthly reliance, but still come to serve higher powers due to their loyalties to duty and order. To walk this path, Star Lancers ritually maintain purity and are transparent with their emotions to be as pure as the stars, but so much as the stars in the skies command great beauty and the grand nature of the heavens, so may the stars also come to act as the harbingers of calamity, omens of disaster, and the binding knots of the net of inevitability and inescapable destiny, commanding the Valkyries of the stars to carry out their duties no matter the cost, as cold and commandeering as heaven as opposition dreadfully wills onto the world. Shining like the stars themselves, their powers of the spiritual now covers all in their presence like the glowing light, bringing about benediction to those under their favor, or their doom, by calling down the wrath of the deities of the stars to unleash their destruction.
Rune Maiden
Though to many, tales of warriors and great battles stir in mind heroics and glory, justice and the triumph of good against evil, and the majestic allure of attaining power for the sake of benevolence, so exists a coexisting truth that there is no light without its darkness; the costs that must have been made for that gain, that the horrors of war are worse than can ever be imagined, and to more grim and starker truths, that conflict is but a reoccuring cycle that will never end, that there are many battles that end without reward nor conclusion, that peace brings idle waste, complacent decadence, and vices worse than what can be committed in war, and that evil can too achieve victory. Of shock and abhorrence for the everyday world, such forsaken truths are but just as fair in the eyes of the Rune Maiden. A shadowy and enigmatic order of warriors who have dedicated themselves to a long forgotten god of war, Rune Maidens tread a way of mysticism forged through battle and violence, a warpath fraught with unknown danger and neverending carnage that baptizes them in bloodshed and destruction to understand the darker truths of the world, to attain lofty elucidation of the realm of fighting and the true nature of conflict. So as their vows adhere them to be fated to live to their last breath fighting, Rune Maidens also take a vow to purity and abstinence to become the sacred heralds of their god; a vow alleged to temper their souls and harden their hearts with determination and motivation strong enough to bolster the instinct to survive and the fighting spirit to brutalize opposition and attain victory, and bestows upon them mystical powers to waste away foes to drive forward opposition to their annihilation. But as they walk this path of darkness, their way becomes more narrow and sharper than any edge as temptation runs high, the truths they will face may be more awful and bleak than they can realize to accept, wounds on their soul can become more fatal than those of the flesh, and that journey's end will most likely not give way to salvation.
Dragon Master
The mighty creatures known as dragons; respected, feared, cherished, bedeviled, and shown as capable of good or evil. Though they share traits in common with reptiles, there is much more that distinguishes them from the reptilians, as naturalists and monstrologists have long studied through the ages. Be it from those heavenly dragons who in legend of the Mana Goddess descended from the rainbow lights of creation, or those dragons feared to behold alignment with the chaotic tyrannical Dragon Lord of Evil, Drakonis, these mighty beasts are of a dimension of their own, and have been long held by the people as being close to mankind than most men would think, and behold powerful mana purest and closest to such mana that created the Fa'Diel since. Beheld and entranced by such magnificent beasts of power, it is the Dragon Master that understands dragonkind greater on another level. With the Rune Maiden's ways interpreted to them as battle being where chaos and nature rule, Dragon Masters have turned to the natural world, and hence to these creatures said to be nature's heralds to enter into the transcendent realm of understanding. Beyond mere decoration and parading of affinity, or the breaking and taming of pets and animals, Dragon Masters are those who live, fight, and die with dragons in their natural and primordial world, living each day tempering and ascending their being to close the gaps of weakness and ignorance to become dragonkind's equal. Through their lives as dragonkind's extensions, such warriors in legends are said to be no different than dragons in their ways of combat, said to be able to traverse aether and sky as equally as one traverses the earth beneath their feet, whose spirits and essence of being have been honed to become as indistinguishable and grand as facing a dragon itself, and whose wrath is one greatly respected to not invoke. Should forces greater than one alone can face come to the Dragon Master, their dragonic allies themselves can be summoned to bring forth an army brought together in bonds to devastate any threat that dares reveal themselves.
Fenrir Knight
Yearning for the fated time to raise hell and for all of its wrath to unleash upon all, the Fenrir Knight is said to take on the name of the dreaded evil devil wolf of legend, who is believed to be destined to devour the Mana Goddess upon the end of the world. Devoted to the harbinger of the end of days and to the ultimate battle to end all battles, so have Fenrir Knights thrown themselves into inhumane and barbaric ways to prepare for that war that will never end when chaos reigns, developing a deep thirst for violence and bloodshed, a berserker rage that will never cease, to throw themselves into indulgence and depravity the likes of demons and monsters would even come to fear, and to revere and worship dark powers of old prophesied to reawaken and return for the end of the world believed to aid Fenrir to gain their infernal blessings and allegiance as they share to seek world's end. The Fenrir Knight specializes in not just merciless fearsome combat, but also in the arts of invocation and sorcery; it is said that because of the classes' closeness with the demonic forces of Fenrir and Mavolia, this pact has bestowed the class with enervating spells to make opposition helpless before their presence, and allows them to summon terrifying monsters from the depths of the demonic realm.
Meteorite
"Keep pressing forward". A maxim by which any wiser would tell of life. As even the most accomplished and ascended of men are still human, life's journey into the unknown and the flow of time wears down even divinity and the eternal to its ultimate destination. Those who dare to face this head on with merit and with hope in their heart, are those who can be said to live forever. With Valkyrie and Aesir, transcendence still continues as well, by those who have become Meteorites. Transcending the corporeal form of the heavens and even the grand scale of the universe, Meteorites are those souls who dare to journey to new things beyond, and into the darkness of the ether, shine a path into even the most unknown parts of creation. Like such shooting stars defying moribund traditions of the stars as omens as bringers of hope and showing that the essence of the heavens lies within all things, Meteorites behold a power gained from their journeys in life that drive them forward with the same meteoric dynamism that annihilates anything malevolent and malicious that dares to impede them in their path, an inspiration communicable that spreads even to their allies and rallies them to the challenge. With such souls whose drive is able to move even the gods from their thrones and change the world by their own impact, so do Meteorites prove that there is indeed a heaven watching over the world.
Brynhildr
As the shadow to the light that is the Valkyrie, Rune Maidens and their descendant roles help to define the dark sides and imperfections of being a warrior, and within time immemorial are believed to have helped shaped the understanding of savagery to the likes of Amazon and Barbarians. But as even the netherworld has its reservations and the heavens can be as heartless as those of infernal ilk, what then speaks of true justice and good? Continuing life's journey to understand even greater complexities of the world and the mysteries of the mortal condition in the face of death and destruction, those of such Amazonian fortitude are known as Brynhildr. From the same realm which the original Vanadis stem from, those known as Brynhildr are mysterious shieldmaidens of such infamy and revelry, that they have spurred such ideals of narrow ways of devotion and purity and accepted their own imperfections and mortality. Though their origins are a mystery in themselves, countless tales abound of their disposition, from those who have spurred the long lost god of war of the Rune Maiden in defiance, mighty women whose femininity and weakness still brought upon heroes to save them, to baneful beauties whose pride and desires have usurped and caused the downfall of entire kingdoms. Whether such epic tales lead to their salvation or demise, all such women accepted their fate, or decided their own destiny. With such carnage behind them as to be the soil which nurtures the most beautiful of flowers, so do Brynhildr fly by their own wings by which to ride onto victory.

Circle of Mana
Echoes of Mana
Riesz made a cameo in Chapter 4 of Season 1, and was an obtainable unit from launch. She ultimately had no fewer than three variants, obtained via gacha draw.
Visions of Mana
Riesz's Amazon dress is available for Careena as part of a DLC add-on pack. However, Careena wears a large green ribbon in lieu of Riesz's coronet.
Careena also draws heavy inspiration from Riesz as a member of the dragonfolk, inheriting her default CS Whirlwind Spear, her affinity with spears in three classes, and two of her switchable classes.
