Help:Rules

It's mandatory to have a rules page now, apparently, so here it is. These are going to be treated as retroactive to the last week or so with regards to penalties.

1. Respect other Members: Please do not sling insults at any editor, please do not harass them in their talk pages, certainly don't use profanity or slurs regarding their race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and physical or mental ability.

2. No Speculation: This is an encyclopedia, and after having speculation written into articles as fact for years, we're going to be hard on this policy. No speculation on an encyclopedia please. That includes speculative 'implications'.

3. Cite Sources: This is something that takes a lot of work to implement and we're working on it ourselves, but please cite your sources if you add major content. Valid citation sources include developer interviews, gaming news, and YouTube videos where the information being cited is clearly and explicitly evident and timestamped.

4. No Edit Warring: If there's uncertainty about a change between two or more users, use the page's discussion section to work it out. Don't get into edit wars.

5. Try To Edit From An Account: This is less a rule, per se, and more of a strong recommendation; it would be ideal to edit from a registered Fandom account, not anonymously. You won't be penalized for editing anonymously, but the range of available responses is far more limited if you break a rule anonymously compared to if you break a rule with an account. With an account we can discuss with you what to change. Without an account you lack a talk page, and as such we can't discuss anything with you.

Penalties for breaking any rule will usually be aimed towards discussion to get you to understand where you went wrong and what to rectify. Blocking is a last recourse, but even then will typically start at lower increments. If the rule violation is from an anonymous user, though, there usually is little that can be done besides blocking.

These rules are subject to change, and we will try to announce such changes when they occur.
