Chompworks Galaxy

The Chompworks Galaxy is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is the only galaxy that requires the use of the Spring Mushroom. Gearmos inhabit this area. Chomps are the most common enemies in the galaxy. They usually block the path to the Launch Star. There are also moving platforms resembling bolts that Mario must traverse to gain the Power Star. The Prankster Comet involves Cosmic Clones.

Missions

Where the Chomps are Made of Gold

In this mission the player has to guide a Golden Chomp to a hole in the ground. After the player does it the Golden Chomp poofs away and in its place is a Power Star.

Spring into the Chompworks

When the player visits this galaxy for the second time, a Spring Mushroom is found on the Starting Planet. To complete this mission, the player must use the first Launch Star located on the first planet's obstacle, using Spring Mario or Luigi to bounce up the steep ramp. The Rolling Chomps Planet no longer contains the small platforms. To get past the Chomps, the player can jump over them using the Spring Mario/Luigi form. They can also do a backflip then spin over them. When past the large Chomps, Chomp Pups roll toward them, though the player does not need the Spring Mushroom this time. The Launch Star is located at the end of the planet, right on top of the generator. After using the Launch Star, the player is sent to the Spring Tower Planet. The player must use the Spring Mushroom to get to the top of the planet, while avoiding Paragoombas and grab the Power Star.

However, much like in Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser, it is possible to complete this level without the use of the Spring Mushroom via various Somersaults, Long Jumps, Wall Jumps and Star Spins, although the nut-like platforms at the top of the Spring Tower Planet can make this difficult.

Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks

The Clone Comet must be in orbit in order to select this mission. The player starts on the Lava Chomp Planet for this mission. The objective is the same as the first mission except for two modifications: there are Cosmic Clones following the player the entire time and some Astro Goombas are absent. Mario or Luigi has to guide the Gold Chomp carefully to the hole without crossing these enemies. If this is done, he is awarded with a Power Star.

Green Star 1

The player redoes the 1st mission. The first Green Power Star is located on the Starting Planet. It is placed outside of the area, near the platform of rolling Chomps. The player has to avoid the Chomps and make it to the start of the Chomp generator. They should perform a long jump to reach the Green Star thereafter.

Green Star 2

The player redoes the Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold mission once again. This time, the second Green Star is located on the roof of the Flipping Platforms Planet. The star is visible when using the Launch Star to travel from the second planet to the third planet, though once on the third planet the star is out of view. To reach the Star, the player can either side-somersault towards the wall, wall-jump off the wall and then spin backwards to the star, triple-jump towards the wall and then Spin Jump into the Star, or backwards-somersault to the star.

Green Star 3

The player redoes the Spring into the Chompworks mission. The player should get to the Spring Tower Planet and reach the top with the help of the Spring Mushroom. Near the top, the player should get some aerial gain and head towards the right of the planet, hopefully landing on the cone-shaped dome. The player should then perform a spring jump as Spring Mario or Luigi to get this star.

Alternatively, one can skip using the Spring Mushroom and climb up to the area with the elevator via Back Flips and Wall Jumps, then Long Jump to the star.
