Dark Koopa

Dark Koopa is a purple-shelled variant of Koopa Troopa featured as an enemy in both Paper Mario and its sequel, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

In Paper Mario series

Paper Mario

Dark Koopas are found in only one room of Toad Town Tunnels. During battle, Dark Koopas will attack just like a normal Koopa Troopa, however, they tend to use an attack with a dizzying move. When Dark Koopas use the dizzying move, it will paralyze Mario for 2 turns. A Dark Koopa will use its special dizzying attack if it is running while in combat.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Dark Koopas only appear in levels 31 through 40 of the Pit of 100 Trials. They lose their trademark ability to make Mario dizzy, making them a much less formidable foe. The game uses the previously unused aerial version of this enemy, the Dark Paratroopa as it was only a beta element of Paper Mario.

"This is a Dark Koopa. Dark Koopas are Koopa Troopas who live in the Toad Town Tunnels. They're known for causing dizziness. Max HP: 8, Attack Power: 3, Defense Power: 2 Be extra careful when you see 'em grin, because that means they're getting ready to do their dizzy attack. Their defense power is 0 when they're turned over, so you should use Jump attacks."
