Fire geysers are a hot smoke-based hazard found in Super Mario Galaxy, they are jets of steam that periodically erupt from crusted bumps in the ground (similar to the Lava Plumes only smaller and less hazardous). Touching a fire geyser when it erupts will scorch Mario/Luigi so watch out. The holes the jets erupt from will give a brief leak of smoke before eruption serving as a warning. Fire geysers are first seen in the Space Junk Galaxy where they are seen on the Yoshi Planet erupting from his nostrils. Fire geysers are commonly seen on several planets in the Melty Molten Galaxy and Bowser's Galaxy Reactor as obstacles near the lava. Fire geysers are also seen in the Freezeflame Galaxy. Underwater Volcanoes which function similarly to fire geysers are also seen in the Sea Slide Galaxy, the Bonefin Galaxy, and the Deep Dark Galaxy. The holes the fire geysers erupt from cannot be destroyed, the plumbers need to wait for either the eruption to die down or to jump over the fire geysers.
Fire geysers are among the few obstacles from Super Mario Galaxy to not reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2.
