Ghost Vases are a possessed vase which appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, usually within the game's various Ghost Houses being placed amongst real Vases. Upon first glance, Ghost Vases appear to be perfectly harmless just like a normal Vase however as the heroes get closer. The Ghost Vase illuminates itself with a pink glow, lifts itself in the air whilst making an eerie sound. Upon lifting itself into the air, it will start to _target Mario/Luigi before flying at the plumbers damaging them upon contact. The Plumbers have to quickly move out of the way or duck for cover as the Ghost Vase attacks. Whether the Ghost Vase hits the heroes or the wall or flooring, it shatters revealing a Coin. Ghost Vases can also be instantly destroyed whilst under the effects of the Starman. Ghost Vases are found in World 3-Ghost House, World 4-Ghost House, and World 7-Ghost House. A similar hazard to them called Ghost Blocks can also be found in this game.

- Vases similar to the Ghost Vases are found in New Super Mario Bros. in the various Ghost Houses. However, none of these Vases are Ghost Vases as they don't move to attack Mario/Luigi.
