Gold Shell

Gold Shells are an uncommon variation of a Koopa Shell found in a few Mario games. They are either worn by Gold Koopas or can be found as standalone objects. Gold Shells first appear in Super Mario Galaxy.

In Super Mario series

Super Mario Galaxy

In this game, they have the same functions as normal shells, but with the difference that they are golden, and with them, golden chests can be opened just by throwing them.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

In this game, they have the same function as in Super Mario Galaxy.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

In this game, its function is totally different from the previous games, since it appears after jumping on a Gold Koopa while the effect of the Golden Ring lasts, when jumping on this shell, it gives 5 coins that will automatically go to your marker . If we kick it, it will leave a trail of coins, if it touches an enemy and it defeats it and it gives 5 coins, if it touches two, 10, for 3, it gives 20, for 4 it gives 50 and the other enemies that it touches consecutively will drop 50 coins, unless you kick him as Gold Mario, since the coins would be double.

Super Mario 3D World

It can appear inside the golden pipes or the golden train, and it can be used like any normal shell, but with the difference that if Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad or Rosalina get inside it and move, it will start to drop coins as long as they keep spinning, until after a while it breaks by itself.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

In the Bowser's Fury mode, Gold Shells can also spawn inside Golden Pipes. They function the same as in Super Mario 3D World.
