Kittens are a friendly species in Bowser's Fury. They are normal cats until Fury Bowser attacks Lake Lapcat, turning them into antagonistic Fury Cats.
Profile
Physical description
Kittens appear in one of five colors: blue, magenta, calico, green, or black. These are all colors of the Maneki-neko, which is also what the Lucky Cat Mario is based on. There is a rumor that says the kittens represent Mario and the others. Green for Luigi, pink for Peach, blue for Toad and black for Rosalina (in her cat form). The kittens are usually friendly and caress Cat Mario, relax or groom themselves. Mario can pick up an individual kitten and it will scratch things in front of it like enemies and other things. When Mario is near a kitten and wearing a cat suit, it will dash towards Mario and rub against him. But if he's not, the kitten will run away from him in fear. If they are thrown into water, the kittens will respawn shortly after.
In Bowser's Fury
Kittens are implemented as a mechanic for obtaining three different Cat Shines. Mario can find a parent cat near each of the three Giga Bells crying. Once approached, a bubble will appear over the kittens's head requesting Mario to find their lost kittens, who are also calico kittens. When Mario brings back all of the kittens, he will obtain a Cat Shine. Each Cat Shine using this format can only be obtained if Mario finds the previous Cat Shine. The more islands you unlock, the harder the kittens are hidden.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Kittens are a spirit obtainable from the Spirit Board in version 11.0.1 and later updates.
