Mario Squared Galaxy

Mario Squared Galaxy is a galaxy featured in World 5 of Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Missions

Make Mario a Star

Similarly to a planet in Super Mario Galaxy located in the Toy Time Galaxy, the 8-bit Mario is covered with disappearing platforms and lava, but the yellow rotating tiles are replaced with Flipswitches, which must all be activated. After they are all turned blue, the Power Star will appear near the starting point of the level.

Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos

When the Prankster Comet is unlocked, the player ends up on the 8-Bit Luigi Planet Half. This mission resembles the Luigi's Purple Coins mission in Toy Time Galaxy of the original Super Mario Galaxy, with some key differences, such as the change in time limit and the number of Purple Coins being decreased to 100. To complete this mission, the player needs to get all 100 of the Purple Coins found on this planet within a two minute time limit while avoiding falling into the poison. There are also Cosmic Clones that continuously follow the player and need to be avoided. If the player manages to obtain all of the coins before time runs out, the Power Star will appear on the platform where the player started.

Green Star 1

The first Green Star is located under a disappearing platform in the top right, near the back of the Mario Hat lava pool and right above the eye. The player should wait on the center of the platform and drop down to land onto the star. If the player is not in the center of the platform, then Mario falls past the star and loses a life. If the player misses, they can spin before falling into the pit.

Green Star 2

The second Green Star is located on another disappearing platform, yet to the far top left on the right hand of the planet. Mario must simply stand in the middle while the platform is shrinking, and fall down onto the star. If not done correctly, Mario falls to his death instead of onto the star. Like before, the player can spin before falling to their death if they missed.

Enemies encountered

Layout

The level is based on a nearly identical planet in Toy Time Galaxy, looking like an 8-bit Mario.
