Mayor Dour is a minor character who appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Dour is the mayor of Twilight Town, and he is one of several mayors who appear in the game.

Physical description

Mayor Dour is an elderly, light-blue Twilighter with very bushy eyebrows and a mustache. He also wears a red shirt with purple pants and is always seen carrying a stick.

History

Mayor Dour first greeted Mario as soon he entered into his town. Dour takes Mario into his home where he explains a monster had cursed the town to turn everyone into pigs. Dour is excited to hear that Mario is going to solve the problem but Dour is soon turned into a pig after Mario needs to get permission from him to enter through the gate. Soon after, Mario defeats the monster and Dour and the other Twilighters are turned back into themselves. However, Dour is fooled by Doopliss who had taken over Mario's body at the time and later asks Mario that they didn't hurt his feelings for the mistaken identity.

Mayor Dour is also friends with the other elderly residents in the game, namely Kroop and the Puni Elder. Dour has a trouble for Mario to take on called "Newsletter" where Dour instructs Mario to deliver the Routing Slip to his friends and to bring it back. Dour mentions he would've done it himself, but his back was aching asking Mario to deliver it in his place. Humorously, Kroop and the Puni Elder also complain about issues with their age rendering them unable to deliver the Routing Slip to each other, and Mario eventually gives it back to Mayor Dour to rewards Mario with 30 coins.
