Notes
Continuity Notes
- According to All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z: Update #2, Anti-Hulk's Appendix profile and President Steve Rogers' Appendix profile, it was left unclear whether SHIELD terminated the real Punisher and Hulk or some copycats.
- In relation to Punisher's death, the Appendix says: "At the time when 2099 Apocalypse was taking place, Punisher 2099 was floating in space, making modifications to a giant gun/satellite with Vendetta, and he also showed up in 2099 Manifest Destiny. Who died in his place? Possibly his son, Hotwire, who looked darn near identical to him, or Goldheart, a robot who shared Jacob's sense of justice and was known to disguise himself as a human when needed."[3] Although 2099: Manifest Destiny #1 was later retconned into being set on Earth-96943, rather than Earth-928, Punisher makes an appearance on Spider-Man 2099 (Vol. 2) #7, which takes place after the events of the original Marvel 2099 run, possibly confirming the speculation that the Punisher killed by SHIELD agents was the robot Goldheart, who, according to the Appendix was known to disguise himself as a human when needed.
- The possibility that the Hulk terminated by SHIELD was not John Eisenhart but the Anti-Hulk, first recalled in All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z: Update #1 and in Anti-Hulk's Appendix profile, has possibly been confirmed by Spider-Man 2099 (Vol. 2) #6, which takes place after the events of the original Marvel 2099 run, and in which Spider-Man mentions Hulk as one of the allies he could have called to gain some help against the Inheritor Daemos.
