Synopsis for "The Big Bang"
Cable begins to doubt whether it's a good idea to give the three Spaceknights his time machine. The situation grows even more dire when seven additional Spaceknights arrive on Earth, making another battle seem hopeless. While constantly communicating telepathically with Esme, Cable devises a plan. He plants the idea in his head to install a mini nuclear bomb in the severed metal arm of his older self, effectively changing history to ensure that the bomb is in his arm now. Cable convinces the Spaceknights that the best place to use the time machine is in the desert, where the Time Variance Authority wouldn't notice.
In the desert, Esme plants a Krakoa seed while Cable stalls the Spaceknights. However, the gate to Krakoa grows too slowly, and the Spaceknights realize Cable is trying to deceive them before he and Esme can escape. Using his telekinesis, Cable manages to fend off the Spaceknights, grabs the sword, and jumps through the gate to Krakoa with Esme. As planned, the Spaceknights are destroyed by the nuclear explosion.
On Krakoa, Cable barely has a moment with Esme before Emma Frost arrives on horseback to take her daughter away. Emma makes it clear to Cable that she’ll be keeping a close watch on him.
Later that evening, Cable plans to resume working on the case of the kidnapped mutant baby, but Cyclops persuades him to join the family for dinner. He doesn’t believe Nathan needs to grow up so fast.
