History
Carl von Brummel was a scientist for the Nazis during World War II. He specialized in the design of rockets and was charged with the task of creating rockets that could be launched from Europe and strike _targets in the United States. In the summer of 1944, Adolf Hitler became furious at the lack of results and with the tide of war shifting, ordered Carl von Brummel to proceed with their back-up plan.
This plan involved using a specially designed sub which could launch rockets from the water and strike at _targets far enough away to make detection of their sources hard to determine. To this end, Hitler had hoped that the Allies would think that the Nazis had succeeded in the creation of a rocket that could cross the distance of the ocean.
Brummel first tested his rockets by launching them at New York City, attracting the attention of Captain America and Bucky. Searching the ruins for clues, Cap and Bucky spotted some of Brummel's men and overheard them talking about the sub. Before the two heroes could capture their foes and force them to talk, they were knocked out and left at the site. However, Captain America and Bucky then began searching the coast in a plane but were shot down. Climbing aboard what appeared to be a merchant ship, they were surprised to find that it was controlled by the spies and was used to carry the missiles that would be loaded into the sub.
Chained up in the brig, Cap and Bucky managed to break free and boarding Brummel's submarine, locked the torpedo hatches and abandoned ship. When Carl launched his next onslaught of missiles, they blew up in the sub, killing Brummel and his crew.[1]
