History
The Crawlers were an accidental creation. When the experiments life forms which could breathe in outer-space failed, they illegally dumped their waste into the sewers. Down here, the chemicals mixed with other illegally dumped chemicals and created the Crawlers. They took residence in the sewers below New York City and visited the surface at night to steal supplies under the cover of darkness. The local residence began to start spreading rumors of their existence, and named them the Crawlers due their method of moving. They were discovered by the abused child, Hugo Lopez who preferred life with them to his life at home. However, his sister believed he had been kidnapped by the Crawlers and enlisted the aid of Wonder Man and Beast. They traveled to the sewers and found Hugo living happily. Another group had also gone down to find Hugo and attacked the Crawlers, assuming they had kidnapped him. Wonder-Man and Beast managed to get Hugo out and back to his parents, but he managed to escape back to the Crawlers. Juanita travelled with Beast and Wonder-Man back to the sewers and while Hugo tried to convince her to stay, the gang returned with explosives. When the dynamite exploded, it sucked Hugo and the Crawlers out into the river. Their current fate and whereabouts are unknown.[1]
