Synopsis for 1st story
When it becomes clear that the Hand ninjas have fallen back to Shadowland and the crowd rioting in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen is composed only of civilians, Mayor J. Jonah Jameson orders the NYPD riot squad to engage. The police and the rioters clash violently. Amid the chaos, Dakota North is knocked off her feet and her car is flipped over. She is attacked by members of the mob but fights them off. The crowd parts to let her pass and she makes her way to the police line, where she finds Detective Alex Kurtz.
She asks Kurtz if he has seen Foggy Nelson. She’s worried he’s going to do something stupid like try to enter Shadowland. Kurtz wonders if she should be more worried about Foggy’s blind partner, Matt Murdock, but Dakota says Matt can take care of himself. She then calls to check on Becky Blake, but receives no answer. Dakota decides to brave the streets and go after Becky.
Becky, meanwhile, is in her office on hold with 9-1-1 when she smells smoke - the lower floors of her building are on fire. She tries to pull herself up the stairs to the roof, but only makes it a few steps before her wheelchair slips out from under her and she falls. Determined, Becky drags herself the rest of the way only to find another obstacle - a ladder to the roof itself. Just then, Dakota opens the hatch above, having remembered Becky’s building had no handicapped access to the fire escape.
Across Hell’s Kitchen, Foggy climbs the wall of cars that serves as the border of Shadowland. He walks up to the castle’s entrance and pounds on the front door, shouting that he needs to speak to Matt. After getting no answer, Foggy grits his teeth and begins to arduously climb the stone wall of the castle. Straining the whole way, Foggy makes it to the roof and through an open window, and collapses on the floor of a hallway inside Shadowland. He has no time to catch his breath, however; White Tiger is there to greet him. She drags Foggy by the hair into the Shadowland throne room.
There, Lord Daredevil - fully possessed by the Beast - presides over a chamber littered with the bodies of Hand ninjas and the heroes who tried to fight him, including Iron Fist, Spider-Man, Elektra, and Luke Cage. White Tiger offers to slit Foggy’s throat, but Daredevil orders her to stop. He grabs Foggy by the neck and says he wants to do the honor himself.
