History
When Death Wreck returned to Dr. Necker, she used a time traveling belt to send him back in time in order to further research why Minion went wrong. However Death Wreck was sent to Earth-9939 where he was attacked by Charnel's metallic spawns, teleporting back to Earth-8410 he brought back a piece of this creatures. Dr. Neck studied the fragment, calling it Promethium, and realizing that with it she could create a much stronger robot to protect her from A.I.M. who would retaliate for her failure. However, upon turning the robot on the creature's will, it overpowered its programming and sought to understand its origin. He took a time belt and was ready to use it but Dr. Necker called for Death Wreck stop it, but both vanished in time vortex. Death Metal was left unconscious on Earth-9939.[1] His unconscious body was found by Doctor Octopus who brought it to his master Dr. Doom, during a short struggle with the Kingpin who claimed Doctor Octopus was tricking him. However the struggle caused the android to awaken, and, thirsty for blood, he killed all present. He next ventured outside and found himself face to face with Ghost Rider, and during a short struggle which left Ghost Rider defeated, his memories flooded back, informing him that Charnel was his father.[2]

Death Metal's body is composed of Promethium, an eldritch metal giving him the following abilities:
- Malleable Metal Body: He can alter the shape of his body, growing in stature and strength, forming his hands into blades and cannons, and even summoning additional weaponry from his shoulders or other body parts.
- Enhanced Strength and Durability: His strength far surpasses that of his brothers, Death Wreck and Death's Head II; He is easily able to fight both of them and toss around powerful foes such as Sasquatch. He can summon additional strength in his berserk state.[3]
- Energy Projectiles: Death's Metal can transform his arms into cannons, summon additional weaponry, and even shoot energy beams from his eyes. This energy is a combination of eldritch energy and energy from his cold fusion reactor and is quite deadly.
- Healing Factor: Even with his tremendous endurance, it is possible to injure Death Metal. If he is hurt, Death Metal can reconstitute himself in a matter of minutes, without requiring additional energy. He can reattach limbs and close holes in his body.
