History
Hyperion was a copy of a superhuman from another world, created by the Grandmaster, an Elder of the Universe.[1]
The Grandmaster encountered the original Hyperion and became enamoured with his power and inspirational presence. He created his own Squadron Supreme, as well as his own Hyperion, to serve his and the Elders' schemes, chief among which was to re-create the original universe they had come from, which had been inadvertently destroyed by the Celestials.[1]
The Grandmaster charged Hyperion with infiltrating the original Squadron Supreme. He fell in love with Power Princess and abandoned his allegiance to the Elders. However, when the original Hyperion learned that a copy had stolen his life, he was driven mad with fury and murdered the copy.[1]
The copy found itself in the Realm of the Dead, and upon the deaths of the rest of the Squadron Supreme, he was re-united with Power Princess, with the two of them resuming their romance. Following Kree hero Mar-Vell's war against Death, Hyperion and Power Princess were transported to Mar-Vell's Paradise, and ingested shards of the Cosmic Cube, allowing them to create a paradise of their own making.[1]
These paradises eventually spun out of control, and the two were broken free of the spell and re-united once more, just as the Kree launched an invasion of Paradise. Meanwhile, the original Hyperion had lived on, searching desperately for a way to die so that he might be re-united with the rest of the Squadron, and Power Princess. He finally succeeded, and arrived in Paradise just as the battle between its denizens and the Kree raged.[2][3]
He immediately attacked his copy, only for Power Princess to break up the fight, telling the original that they copy had abandoned his allegiance to the Elders and that she loved him.[4]Trivia
