History
Following his sister Sue, Johnny Storm joined Reed Richards's crew in a space flight. Riddled with cosmic radiation, Johnny gained the ability to spontaneously burst into flame. Johnny found new adventure as part of the Fantastic Four, proving to be an invaluable member of the team.[2]
Cosmic Brick Crisis
Hydra Hideout
During the Cosmic Brick Crisis, Johnny entered a Hydra Base that Black Widow and Hawkeye were infiltrating, helping the two. Fighting numerous Hydra agents along the way, the three made their way to the command room, where they found Loki, Red Skull and Arnim Zola who were creating a generator based on Tony's arc reactor technology. Spotting the three, Loki blasted them with his staff, knocking Black Widow and Hawkeye unconscious. After Loki left the base to return to Asgard, Captain America appeared. The two teamed up, with Johnny helping fight Hydra minions while Cap was engaging Red Skull directly and the two working together to take out laser cannons at other points. Eventually, Wolverine showed up and tripped Red Skull into the portal, destroying it and electrocuting Red Skull. Red Skull, Zola and the other Hydra agents at the base were then taken into custody.[1]
Skirmish on Asgard
Looking for someone who could help them track Loki, Human Torch, Captain America and Wolverine rendezvoused with Thor. Having detected Loki on Asgard, Thor transported his 3 companions, along with one unwilling cleaner, to Asgard. Entering the Observatory, they found Asgard overrun with ice and frost giants and, after breaking out of the locked observatory, they found Loki leading the charge. After fighting their way through Asgard and Loki's illusions, they found Loki in the throne room, where he used the mind stone to control the Destroyer. After the four were able to pull the Destroyer apart through a combination of Cap's shield and Mjolnir, Loki resorted to his usual illusions, something Wolverine was able to bypass through his heightened senses. After the four defeated Loki in combat, Loki teleported away, leaving the Tesseract behind. Johnny argued with Captain America and Thor as to where to put the Tesseract, letting Wolverine steal it when the three weren't looking.[1]
Operation: Latveria
With the Tesseract being held in Latveria, Fury acquired the assistance of the Fantastic Four to storm Doom's castle after S.H.I.E.L.D. provided cleanup assistance for the Baxter Building. With the Four and Fury taking the Fantasti-Car to Latveria, they were met with incoming fire, Fury and Torch split up with the rest of the team to secure the landing zone, while Reed set the Fantasti-Car to autopilot and landed on Latverian soil with Sue and Ben. Landing on the other side of the castle to Reed's team, Fury and Torch were met with heavy resistance from Latverian troops, causing Fury to send a distress call to the other team. Reed, Sue and Ben were eventually able to meet up with Johnny and Fury. Now together, the five were forced to trigger the security alarm to gain access to Doom's elevator, as this would cause many Doombots to be brought down from the interiors of the castle and thus grant them access to the Elevator. Upon reaching Doom's lair, the five were met by Green Goblin who attacked them, knocking Johnny Storm unconscious. However, they were then crushed under rocks as a result of Loki's blasts. Afterwards, Johnny regained consciousness and the five confronted Doom. The five survived this attack, clearing up the rubble and bringing the captured Silver Surfer back to the helicarrier.[1]
Last Stand on the Helicarrier
Human Torch attended Nick Fury's briefing on Galactus and Doctor Doom.Later, Loki was able to take control of Galactus. Faced with the prospect of global annihilation, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Earth's mightiest heroes made an alliance with various villains who had previously been hired by Doctor Doom and Loki. Human Torch was assigned on 'Team Two' with Iron Man, Abomination and Venom. Through the use of Venom's webbing and Iron Man's Thrusters, Team Two were able to redirect the Helicarriers' rotor blasts towards Galactus. Team Three summoned a Black Hole and Team Four assembled a replica of earth, which Johnny helped perfect, this fooled Galactus and they were able to knock him and Loki into the black hole. As per Fury and Doom's earlier agreement, the villains were given a thirty second head-start to escape, an idea that was unintentionally sabotaged by Hulk's inability to count to three, allowing the villains to escape.[1]
Afterparty at Stark Tower
Celebrating their victory over Galactus, Tony Stark held a wrap party at Stark Tower. Human Torch attended the party and, much like the other guests, found it lifeless and boring. However, Human Torch was able to get into the party once Tony and Rhodey were able to assemble a DJ Station, a disco ball and repair a speaker Hulk had broken.[1]
Encounter with Dormammu
Taking part in movie night in the Baxter Building, Sue and Johnny were met from a psychic distress call from Doctor Strange, who had been captured by Dormammu. The two headed over to the Sanctum Sanctorum.After pursuing Dormammu up to the attic, they found Strange trapped in a mirror world, freeing him with the help of his instructions. Angered by this, Dormammu confronted the three. Eventually, they were able to defeat Dormammu and banish him to the Dark Dimension.[1]Notes
