Majesdanians

The Majesdanians were a humanoid race of beings dependent on and able to manipulate solar energy.[2]

History

Much of the history of the Majesdanians is unknown. They have mastered interstellar space travel. At some point, a couple of Majesdanians who would take the names of Frank and Leslie Dean were exiled from Majesdane for criminal activities, and made Earth their new home. When Skrull Prince De'zean attempted to lead an invasion of Earth, the Deans were able to prevent the invasion by offering the location of Majesdane and arranging a marriage between their daughter and De'zean's son. As a result of this, war broke out between Majesdane and the Skrull Empire for more than a decade and a half.[3]

Hoping to end the bloody Skrull-Majesdanian conflict, Prince Xavin arrived on Earth to collect his betrothed, Karolina Dean. Karolina agreed to the marriage for the peace.[3] Unfortunately, during the ceremony, a Skrullos guest insulted a Majesdanian bridesmaid's dresses leading to more fighting.[4]

After the wedding and talks of peace failed, a Skrull Battleship launched two Thermonutron Missiles at Majesdane, engulfing it in a fiery chain reaction which killed around 9 billion people.[5] To avenge Majesdane, the remaining members of the Light Brigade, Majesdane's elite military force, traveled to Earth to force Karolina Dean to stand trial in place of her parents. To save Karolina, and hopefully finally end the Skrullos-Majesdanian conflict, Xavin disguised themself as Karolina and left Earth with the Light Brigade.[6]

Majesdanian refugees were taken from a remote part of the Majesdanian system by smugglers. As they moved, the smugglers and refugees were intercepted by Captain Marvel and Alpha Flight.[7]

A Majesdanian thaumaturge by the name of Roxnor the Purifier wished to attack Earth after he was embarrassed by Doctor Strange. He and his subordinates kidnapped dwarven forger Eoffren to make him powerful weapons, but after Strange helped him escape, Roxnor forced Strange's assistant Kanna to help him instead.[8] The Majesdanians proceeded to launch a solar warhead at Earth, which was thankfully teleported away by Strange and Kanna. Roxnor and his minions were left defeated and sent back to their homeworld.[9]

After joining the Light Brigade and becoming their general, Xavin helped to change the mission of the Light Brigade, reforming them from a purely offensive military group into a multi-species peacekeeping organization. The Light Brigade has continued to help found a new colony for the Majesdanian on Gheshua 9.[10]

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Majesdanian physiology allows for several powers and special adaptations including:

  • : Majesdanians are able to absorb solar radiation which they can manipulate for various uses and convert it into a unique energy type which is integral to their bioluminescent appearance. Their power level is directly related to their exposure to sunlight.[12][13] It is possible this is absorption of some sort of cosmic energy.[14]
    • : Majesdanians can absorb and store solar energy in every cell of their bodies, even blood. Because of this, their blood is lethal to Vampires (even when their powers are actively being suppressed).[15]
    • : In their natural state, Majesdanians' skin and hair are luminescent with shimmering, rainbow-colored light of solar radiation. They can also emit light to illuminate or disorient enemies. This vibrant appearance can be suppressed to appear human through training or through exposure to specific types of metal.[2]
    • : Majesdanians can project solar energy in a beam of variable intensity and diameter, from a wide concussive blast to a thin laser-like cutting beam.[16] Their energy blasts appear similar to light, reflecting the vibrant colors of their bioluminescent bodies. Some Majesdanian do not possess the power to project light.[17]
    • : Majesdanians can control the projected energy forming defensive barriers,[18] enfolding shields,[14] or restraints.[19][20]
    • : Majesdanians can withstand extremely high temperatures.[3]
    • : Majesdanians can emit warmth,[21] and also increase the heat of their blasts.
  • : Majesdanians are able to propel themselves into the air leaving a rainbow-like trail behind.[12][14]
  • : Majesdanians appear to be stronger than an average human possibly due to the strong gravitational forces of Majesdane.
  • Enhanced Durability: Majesdanians are much more durable than an average human.
  • : Majesdanians' powers have no effect on each other.[19][22]
  • : With specific training, some Majesdanians are able to create seed pod and heal others.[23]

Average Strength Level

Depends on the amount of exercise, but appears to be stronger than an average human.

Weaknesses

  • Solar Energy Dependent: Excessive use of their powers can drain their stored solar energy reserves. In daylight, the depletion is negligible given that she is constantly replacing the used energy. At night, it is possible to completely use up stored energy and not have access to any special abilities until again exposed to sunlight.[12][13][24]
  • Power Suppression: Their powers can also be suppressed via contact with some specific metallic materials.[25][26][4]

Habitat

Habitat

Rich in sunlight.[11]

Gravity

Majesdane
Gravitational pull of 300,000 g.[citation needed]

Atmosphere

Hydrogen-helium plasma. Temperature around 50,000 K.[citation needed]

Population

Unknown, but very few since the destruction of Majesdane. Formerly more than 9 billion.[5]

Miscellaneous

Type of Government

The Majesdanians were governed by the Majesdane Empire which was led by the governing council.[8][17]

Level of Technology

Advanced. The Majesdanians had attained interstellar travel, such as the Kiran.[27] Some Majesdanians also used magic.[8]

Cultural Traits

The Light Brigade was Majesdane's elite military corps that was used to maintain law and protect their people.[5]

The Majesdanians had a law that forbid them from being dishonored and forced them to rather accept death before that happened. In their defeat Majesdanian warriors accepted their fate and allowed their enemies to slay them, deeming it a better fate than living in disgrace.[9]

Notes

  • In Earth-199999, the Majesdanians were replaced with the Gibborim. Unlike their Earth-616 version, the Gibborim more closely resembled the Majesdanians.[33]

Trivia

  • Majesdanians may require a vegetarian/vegan diet although this is difficult to gage as Frank and Leslie Dean maintained a 'hippy' celebrity actor lifestyle as part of their cover and their daughter shared their particular diet, but it has not been stated that this was a necessity of their species or simply a dietary choice.[34][2]
