Synopsis for "Osborn (Part 3 of 5)"

Senator Sondra Muffoletto gives her staff a pep talk on leadership at her office in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, Norman Osborn and his alliance arrive at the general population wing of the Special Containment Center, where a riot has broken out. Osborn strides into the chaos and announces his intention to fight “the biggest, ugliest creature on the floor” and thus gain superiority over the crowd. But he is approached from behind by a hulking inmate and knocked brutally to the ground. Osborn stands, grinning from his bloody mouth as his compatriots join the fray.

In the observation room above, Norah Winters spots Osborn. Her mysterious contact tells her they have five minutes before the submarine that brought them departs. Back at Front Line, Sarah Saulsby calls Senator Muffoletto’s office in a desperate attempt to find Norah. As Sarah scrambles for something to write on, she notices the note Norah received telling her to go to Pier 84. Sarah asks Muffoletto’s staffer if that location means anything to the senator.

Senator Muffoletto is awakened by a phone call from her staffer. When the staffer mentions Pier 84, the senator pauses, stunned, and says she’ll handle the situation. Muffoletto calls her colleague, Senator Bill Morrison, and requests they meet. Morrison blows her off, tells her she’s on her own, and hangs up on her. Muffoletto realizes with shock and dismay that she has been manipulated, and any fallout from Osborn’s transfer is going to be laid at her feet.

In the thick of the riot, June Covington gets thrown down viciously by an inmate, her body bloody and broken. However, she begins to contort, resetting her bones with ease. As she does, she describes to her attacker the genetic modifications she’s given herself over the years. These include malleable bones, a heightened pain threshold, and blood that contains a neurotoxin. The giant man begins to succumb to paralysis from exposure to June’s blood and topples over as the Toxic Doxie taunts him.

Osborn continues to take a beating until he finally sets himself, gathers his Goblin strength, and lays his opponent out. He shouts maniacally for the man to get up and “play with Uncle Norman”, which causes the riotous crowd to recognize Osborn for who he is. The prisoners shout uproariously and raise their fists, displaying dozens of wrists stamped with Green Goblin tattoos. They chant for Osborn as Norman basks in the adulation of his newfound devotees.

Father Coulmier notices Norah in the observation room and Osborn sends Ai Apaec up to collect her. Norah tries to call out to the surface but cannot get a signal on her phone. She is grabbed by the spider-god, who presents her to Osborn. Norman tells the frightened reporter that he is “about to raise an army”.
