The Reliquary Perilous is a temporal contagion created by Mother Righteous of Moira VII.1. It's an amalgamation of countless powerful artifacts, as well as some living beings, merged and retooled for its new purpose. When deployed, it clings aggressively to any relativistic or chronological alterations to the present universe, infecting its way backwards along the timeline toward the source-moment. It carries with it whatever power, information, or magical actions the conjurer has encoded into its divine matter.[1]
History
In a timeline where Mr. Sinister had successfully corrupted the Quiet Council by infecting them with his own DNA, and where these Sinisters had proceeded to conquer the planet, Mother Righteous initially disguised the purpose of the Reliquary as a weapon designed to purge the Sinister-strain. To that end, she and her servant Vox Ignis recruited the Legion of the Night, charging them with retrieving artifacts of power to fuel the Reliquary.[2]
In the coming centuries, the Nightkin visited civilizations before their fall to the growing Sinister-empire, stealing artifacts while Mother Righteous visited various people of great import, asking them about their regrets in order to send their secrets back in time to herself. After centuries of gathering artifacts, the Reliquary was ready, though Mother Righteous would be forced to wait nearly 1000 years for the rest of the pieces to fall into place, continuing to add artifacts to the Reliquary just in case.[3][1]
When it came time for her to deploy the Reliquary, she was ambushed by Wagnerine, whose child had secretly been made part of the Reliquary centuries ago. When Vox Ignis turned on her, Mother Righteous was killed before she could unleash the Reliquary's powers. It was instead claimed by Moira MacTaggert.[1]Properties
