The Battle of New York, silly. You versus those self-righteous Avengers.Miss Minutes to Loki

The Avengers are a team of extraordinary individuals, with either superpowers or other special abilities, assembled by S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect Earth from global threats.

History

Avenging Phil Coulson

Didn't the Avengers come together to literally avenge him by defeating you?Mobius M. Mobius to Loki

During a standoff between Loki and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson, Coulson was killed by the God of Mischief. As a result of Coulson's death, the previously disjointed members of the Avengers Initiative came together to form the Avengers and avenge Coulson.[1]

The Avengers were able to successfully thwart Loki's attempt to conquer Earth during the Battle of New York. Upon capturing Loki at Avengers Tower, Black Widow confiscated his Scepter and handed it to Jasper Sitwell. Captain America went to coordinate search and rescue, promoting Loki to briefly shapeshift into Captain America to mock him. Loki was then escorted by Tony Stark and Thor to take the elevator to the lobby while Hulk was forced to take the stairs, enraging him.[2]

Loki's Escape

Thor meets Alexander Pierce

Where's Loki? Loki!Thor

When Tony Stark, Thor and Loki got to the first floor, they were stopped by Alexander Pierce, who asked them where they were going. Thor answered that they would have lunch and then he would return to Asgard, and asked Pierce who he was. Stark introduced Pierce and explained his hierarchical position as an overseer of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Pierce asked them to turn Loki over to him. Thor told Pierce that Loki would be answering to Odin himself, to which Pierce retorted that Loki would answer to them and that Odin could have what was left. He then told Thor and Stark that he was going to need the case containing the Tesseract, arguing that it has been S.H.I.E.L.D. property for over seventy years.

Docthor
Thor successfully saves Tony Stark's Arc Reactor

A S.H.I.E.L.D. agent then forcefully asked Stark for the case. Stark then argued with Pierce over not handing the case over to him starting a hustle between S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Stark and Thor. Stark suddenly collapsed, interrupting the hustle and causing the case to be dropped on the floor. Pierce called for a medic, and Thor asked Stark to speak to him and to explain what was happening to him, theorizing a malfunction of his Arc Reactor. Hulk got to the bottom of the stairs and growled loudly and burst the door open, causing an apparent S.H.I.E.L.D. agent to lose the the Tesseract case, which slid over to Loki's feet. Hulk then angrily expressed that he did not like stairs before Loki grabbed the Tesseract and used it to escape. Thor tapped Mjølnir on top of Stark's Arc Reactor and the electricity restarted the Arc Reactor. Stark thanked Thor on what he had done and asked him about the case. Thor began looking for it before realizing that Loki had disappeared.[2]

Clash of Captain Americas

I can do this all day."
"Yeah, I know. I know.Captain America and Captain America

On his way to coordinate search and rescue, Captain America encountered someone identical to himself and assumed it was a disguised Loki. He informed the other Avengers that he had eyes on him. The "other" Captain America assured him that he was not Loki, nor did he want to hurt him. Captain America then ran towards the other and attacked him with his shield, which was blocked by the doppelganger.

The two kept fighting and Captain America kicked the other away, and told him that he could do this all day. They continued their fight until they began falling down the building and landed on another floor. Captain America then picked up a compass with a picture of Peggy Carter that the doppelganger had dropped and asked him where he had gotten it. When the doppelganger tried to grab the Scepter, Captain America got behind him and put him in a chokehold. The doppelganger then told him that Bucky Barnes was still alive, which confused Captain America into loosening his grip. The doppelganger then punched Captain America in the face before he grabbed the Scepter and used it to render Captain America unconscious.[2]
