Behind the Scenes
Continuity
The game is deemed non-canon due to many differences between it and the film it is based on due to many factors like its usage of Hulk, Iron Man and Korg. Additionally, Vance Astro utilizes Captain America's Shield as his personal weapon which cannot happen due to Steve Rogers' activity at the time. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also introduced a Star Child named Phyla, who also appears in this game as a much older version named Phyla-Vell. Some other details are that despite the game taking place after the events of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korath the Pursuer is still alive and is not recognized by Star-Lord. Another overlooked death is Groot, who is an adult despite dying and becoming a baby at the end of the film.
