Appearances
- Metaphor: ReFantazio: Minor Character
Personality
Despite his campaign being rooted in hedonistic ideals, Loveless is actually a well-meaning young man who cares deeply about his fellow paripus tribe members. He is fully aware of the severe persecution they suffer at the hands of others, and his campaign mostly revolves on ending the persecution against the lesser tribes. However, this idealism comes with short-sightedness, which leaves him open to fellow candidate Milo's deceptions. When the party defeats him and snaps him out of Milo's deceit, he entrusts the protagonist to do his job for him and considers him as being more fitting for the job he wanted to do. It is implied his dependence on alcohol and indulgence comes from his self-doubt and awareness that the paripus tribe is relying on him, and he begins to cut back shortly after he drops out of the race.
He also appears to be somewhat more competent than he looks, as his Memorandum entry mentioned that he built his gauntlet runner using a cargo ship and he managed to pass both rounds of the Tournament for the Throne alongside candidates with greater resources such as Rudolf and the protagonist.
Profile
Loveless is a paripus man who is the third son of a tavern owner. Unable to hold down a steady job, he joined the Tournament for the Throne, believing it had been a divine calling for him to spread hedonism, aiming to make alcohol free and turn half the country into an entertainment district. He was one of the contestants who got past both the first and second rounds of the tournament.
He, alongside Milo, Julian and Rudolf can be seen attending Forden's victory speech in the Montario Opera House during Saint's Day, where he calls out Forden over his over-confidence and attempt to end the Tournament early only to be silenced by Gideaux. He presumably escaped offscreen alongside the other three contestants and the rest of the audience when Louis interrupts the speech to assassinate Forden.
He can be spotted at Altabury Heights from September 13th onwards, where Milo told him a blatant lie about the protagonist killing innocent paripus and eugief, causing him to go hostile toward the protagonist. When the party goes speak to him there, he will look visibly enraged and challenge the party to a duel, which greatly confuses him and Gallica. Nonetheless, a confrontation is unavoidable. When the protagonist wins against him, Heismay suspects that he was being tricked; he calms down and realizes that he was being manipulated.
Afterwards, the protagonist can speak to Loveless one more time, where he tells the protagonist that he will make a better king, so he will step out from the confrontation and asks the protagonist to confront Milo in his place. Milo will then appear in next to the Recruitment Centre in Altabury Heights where he can be challenged to a battle.
